Default End of the world: Mayan calendar

The ancient Mayan culture used fear, superstition and human sacrifice. This Mayan calendar (and others) have been used by ah, some people to suggest the world may come to an end in 2012. This becomes obvious when gazing at it; as it's plainly self-evident... even the date. See?

that guy in the middle just told me not to eat spicy mexican food. wonder what else he has to say... Hhhhhhhhm Kat, this is a great opportunity waiting to happen. I think you should market this thing like that magic 8 ball. he says he can see the future? why not make a few bucks before his predictions start coming true?

Kat ! Ive got it !

I woke up with the perfect idea for the mayan calendar. I form it like a frisbee.
the mouthpiece is springloaded shut so put a joint in the things mouth, and toss the frisbee to a friend.
then make the mouth move in time to prerecorded bright sayings like "dont bogart that joint my friend... pass it over to me" "roll me another one, just like the other one" "the answer my freind is blowing in the wind"

we call it the "Flyin Mayan"

tell me you like this idea, and I will get a truckload of guatamalans to start pressing them out in mass quantities.

Country Joe will love it.

Default End of the world frisbee fun

This thread was moved to a more uh, serious place where the discussion can resume about frisbees and the end of the world. The Mayans needed to regularly kill somebody, so their priest could rip out the victim's heart as an offering to the Gods. I don't think it helped repel the Spanish Conquistadores though, who obviously had more powerful Gods.

The Mayans kindly left us this frisbee so we could know exactly when the end of the world will happen. In the meantime, let's have some fun with their doomsday frisbee. Here now, don't be shy; come join the fun...

I'm thinking that the dude is a slight underdog on the frisbee confrontation.

Default Penn and Teller

Penn and Teller's show "Bullshit" goes on about a number of topics and guess what? The 2012 thing involving the end of the world, the Mayan calendar and all the people going on about this are the subject of one of their episodes! I enjoy this show and the way they pick apart a given subject.

This particular episode (the 2012 thing) they do their usual and make the people that push and promote such nonsensical garbage for the sake of gaining some sort of notoriety for themselves look like complete idiots.

Why do you call the Mayan prophecy nonsensical garbage? Do you also call Bible Prophecy nonsensical garbage? zg
