Bahamas casinos other than Atlantis?
I've seen several comments about conditions in Atlantis. Any experiences to report on other casinos on Nassau / Paradise Island? Am heading there next month for some R&R and scuba but expect to spend some time at the tables. We're staying on Paradise Island but if there's a better casino than Atlantis nearby, I'd take a short cab ride rather than just shrugging saying "Well, Atlantis is convenient..."

I was backed-off at the Atlantis some years ago while betting modestly and spreading narrowly. Yuck.
I tried the other place, (the name escapes me) but they were cutting off almost 3 of 8 decks !
What irritated me most was the multiple hidden charges at The Atlantis.
e.g. housekeeping charges, electricity surcharge; not to mention the very
dim light bulbs in the rooms and the dreadful service.

There is a casino attached to The Wyndham, which is a short cab ride away. A Harrahs diamond player who recently was there told me she was surprised by the $15 per bet minimums on three card poker. She doesn't play BJ, so she didn't notice the minimums.

I don't know how much money you bet, but if you are at the heavy black level you should be very careful. Casinos in the Bahamas have a long history of stealing money from professional players. They claim card counting is illegal in the Bahamas and just steal your money. I know several people who have had to just eat a mid 5 figure loss to theft.

I originally posted this in another thread back in February, and it's the casino to which shadroch is referring . . .
"Your other option in New Providence is Crystal Palace Casino in Cable Beach, was there last month. The regular gaming area has single deck 6:5 and 8D H17. The hi-limit pit had several tables ranging from $25-100 minimum, 6D, S17, DOA, DAS, nRSA, NS, no MSE. You actually get a voucher for cash back based on your theo which you redeem at the cage. Penetration was slightly better than at Atlantis during that week, and overall the tables were less crowded. "

nottooshabby,
You said ... "You actually get a voucher for cash back based on your theo which you redeem at the cage"
I know what "theoretical" means in casino-speak, but I do not know what you meant by this.
Can you elaborate ?

FLASH,
By "theo" I meant theoretical loss in the eyes of the casino which as you know is derived from several factors (average bet, number of hrs played, casino's expected advantage, etc). I signed up for the Passport Rewards card once we got there and played there for many hours over several days.
Before checking out, I went to the Passport Rewards lounge (office? ) and asked if there was anything on our bill that could be taken care of (we were staying at the Sheraton next door on Starpoints but still charged some meals and drinks). Instead of "comping" these charges, the agent spent a few minutes on the computer, and printed out a voucher which he told me could be redeemed at the casino cage for cold hard cash.

light action just for fun
I'm not at all concerned about how good or bad Atlantis is as a resort. Even before seeing other posts here about Atlantis, we'd made reservations at the Comfort Suites so we're paying a fraction of what we'd pay to actually stay at Atlantis.
And I'm actually going more for scuba so getting in some BJ is icing on the cake. I'm a low stakes better so what goes on at the high minimum tables isn't an issue. And I doubt that at the stakes I play for I'll attract much heat. Never done so yet, though like some other folks maybe it would be a fun brag that I did.
Sounds like there's basically two games in town, then, and it's at least worth checking out Crystal Palace.

Staying at the Comfort Suites, you are already way ahead of the game.
As far as being able to brag about the heat you attract, just do it. It's the internet. Who cares.
