Biloxi Blues: H17

Recently got back from Biloxi and discovered that all tables at the Island View are now H17. CBJN hasn't picked this up yet so thought I'd pass this along. This is on the heels of the same move the IP made a while back. So unfortunately, two casinos have been lost now on the island.

Hopefully, the Ploppies will discover they don't lose as much at the other stores that stand on soft 17--and these two casinos will end up shooting themselves in the foot.

The casinos have found a new one to pull on the suckers, slip in h-17, it is sweeping the nation.

Unless you are a ST or the like the game will soon not be worth playing. I do play a h-17 6d but it has alot of other redeeming features.

Thanks for the info.

Hopefully, this wave won't overcome the entire island--and good old American competition will save the day over collusion.

With 12 area-casinos--currently hungry for business--perhaps these two stores will come to their senses.

Hopefully the hard way.

Best regards,

Just got back earlier this week. If it hasn't already been mentioned, FWIW, Grand Casino (Harrah's) is also now H17 on its games . . .
That's right, the only Red game they offer is 8D H17 (they are owned by Harrah's after all!). But surprisingly, they're still S17 on their DD & 6D Green.

It's got to be due to the competition: IE, in New Orleans, Harrah's doesn't give you S17 till 6D Black in their high limit room! Albeit reluctantly: given that game's absence of RSA and its stingy HA of .41! Nice "Total" reward for their Whales. Real hard to figure out why this casino is a perennial under performer.

Frankly, I am surprised any casinos are left that are S17. It is by far the easiest way for a casino to increase revenue, changing to H17. All they have to do is change the felt. Very few players in my experience think H17 is significantly worse for the player.

Besides, H17 hurts the AP less than it hurts basic strategy players. If there is good penetration, a good shuffle, or RSA and LS, H17 can be overcome. We won't be placing big bets when there is an abundance of 3's and 4's remaining.
