Checks Play

Greetings,

I was in a large major casino on a puny $10 table and dropped to 1 unit (as the count called for). The count then rose and so did my bets, but never more than a parlay--it was a slow "progression" till I placed four Green on the felt...then I heard it: "Checks Play".

Couldn't believe it (from a huge joint no less--it was like I was at the El Cortez). Think it was just an overzealous dealer--or are places getting sweatier in general?

Also, when you hear "Checks Play," do you automatically become more cautious? Or is it really just a cue for the Pit to comp larger bet action and track Black chips?

Best regards,

No big deal..casino just protecting themselves...get used to it, the threshold is different in relation to min and max.

Thank you both for your responses--I hear you: now that I think about it, I've heard it called on 80 year-olds who hit $100. So obviously $100 is a threshold at Red at this shop now. (Was just kind of surprised because I've gone over $100 before at this same shop.)

Best regards,

FD
