Too general a question

How long is the "trip"? A few hours, a day, a few days, a week? If you live right down the street from the casino, then a few hundred units relieves some of the security concerns of carrying large quantities of cash. If you are traveling a distance and will be there a while then obviously you go with as much as you are comfortable enough with. You don't want to be sitting there with a short stack to work with.

Near Disaster?

Maybe not that extreme, but if you run out of money when you need to place a large wager it hurts your overall EV.:joker::whip:

If you are gone a weekend bring half the bank, bringing all the bank is preferrable to running out of funds.

Some nice rules of thumb:

If you lose 90% of trip bank, next time bring 25% more.
If you lose 75% of trip bank, next time bring 10% more.
Repeat as needed:joker::whip:

I generally carry 25% of my bankroll with me. This represents 33 of my maximum bets. I keep another 25% in my BR only bank account, which is located in a national type bank that have offices in most locations that I play. This way I have access to the money relatively quickly. I may have to wait 24 hours for the branch to open, but if I have already lost 25% that quickly (which has never happened), I am ok with taking a 24 hour breather to regroup.

If at anytime during a trip my initial 25% dips delow 25 max bets, I will visit the bank and reload back to 33 max bets. When traveling between domestic locations, I place my inital 25% into the bank account and withdrawl it upon arriving at the destination, rather than carry on "planes, trains or automobiles". I have yet to play outside the US, so I haven't had to figure that strategy out yet.

If you have had to dip into your bank account while away; with the delays and annoyance involved, have you thought of carrying that much extra with you next time?

A forced break for any reason will cost you ev in the long run.

For a week-long trip, 30% of my BR. I also have access to national bank branches in the places I play which have Saturday lobby hours, if need be (thankfully I've never needed it!)
