Countering the shuffle up

I am starting to have a few dealers occasionally shuffle up the DD on me when I place a larger bet near the end of the shoe. It dont think it would help to complain any, just alienate the dealer. I suppose you just walk if it gets bad enough. You could make a point to not raise your bet even higher toward the end of the DD I suppose. Tipping a little might be a solution but then it almost feels like you are being extorted to some degree if you need to keep up tips to avoid shuffle ups.

I would be interested in the views of others on this subject as I see it becoming a factor for me in the future.

Is a shuffle card being used?

If they are regularly doing this (preferential shuffling), start betting big when the count tanks. This way, they will shuffle the negative shoes rather than the positive ones.

Yes a cut card is in use, should have said that.

I have heard about the raise when count tank and will try it but if they know the count you face neg EV with alot out.

Thanks for the responses.

I would suggest that they know you are a skilled AP and the dealers have been instructed to Pref. Shuff. That is not a good thing:(

You are right about them turning the tables on you when you place a bigger bet in a neg count, good thinking. Be careful.

Best to you,

I'd suggest playing somewhere else. Either they're cheating (preferentially shuffling) or they're sweaty and you'll get busted soon enough.

Unless they are using a device to determine the exact count (such as Mindplay) I would not consider this to be cheating. Certainly a dirty tactic, but perfectly legal as they can shuffle the cards whenever they want to.

I would most certainly consider it cheating. It alters the odds of the game, which is the statutory definition of cheating.

In a normal blackjack game, players get an even distribution of high and low counts, but in this game there are more low than high counts. Thus, the average house advantage is changed.

I agree with Moo; it's clearly cheating. As I recall, the Mindplay units were required to delay the shoe count results to avoid exactly this situation.

I agree it's cheating, but it's sanctioned in the rules. I know where Dopple plays and the rules of his state permit shuffling at will.

Possibly so. But if they display a cut card and fail to use it as a cut card, a complaint that they are misrepresenting the game and using a cut card to deceive players might be valid.

Not when this is the exact wording in the regulations:

At the discretion of the retail licensee, the dealer may reshuffle the cards after the conclusion of any hand.

Big bets do not always indicate a good count

Dopple

I wonder if this happens when you raise your bet but not when other (known losers) raise their bets. A ploppy steaming or one who is increasing his bets because the deck has been good to him?
If this is a procedure used on everyone, the casino is stupid and sweaty and in turn throwing money away.
If this is a procedure used on you and any suspected counter, you have been made and they will not let you properly apply your trade, so you should move on.

It appears they are "legally" using you to inform them when to deal deeply into a negative stack and when to shuffle away a positive stack. Unless they pay you for this service you should not play there.
