Christmas Bonus

I thought that I had wrapped up my playing year at the end of last week when I headed east to spend the holidays with family. And then along came the big storm. AC is empty during big storms like this, making for unusually good wonging opportunities. Too good to miss! I squeezed in roughly 1400 hands in a full day of play sunday, jumping from table to table, finishing up 287 units. This was a 12% increase in my yearly total that I wasn't expecting, so a big thanks and hug to Mother Nature for providing a christmas bonus. :) Not expecting to play anymore this year, but I will be on the east coast until Dec 30, so who knows, maybe mamma nature has another punch left.

It's funny you mentioned that Jason. I almost, I repeat almost went to AC Saturday night knowing the storm was coming and knowing what you had said in the past about playing in AC during bad weather conditions to be true. But then what stopped me was thinking eh I might not be able to get out of there for several days since they were saying up to 2 feet of snow. Did you actually brave the elements and change casinos? I would imagine with it being empty, you probably had more scrutiny than usual especially since you played a number of hands. As it is, I will probably go there soon.

I arrived in AC early sunday morning 4 am-ish and went straight to the marina district, playing in one casino for about 10 hours, (less 2 meal breaks), which sounds like a long time in one place, but it is big enough that you can get away with it. I never satyed at one table very long at all. early afternoon I went to the northern boardwalk where I played played another 7 hours jumping between two casino right next to each other and playing on both sides of a shift change, which helped. About 11 pm I headed home, since the casino didn't want to comp me a room. This was shocking to me as it was my regular home based casino that I stayed at comped 70-75 times this year. They claimed without an advanced reservation that they couldn't comp. lol seemed pretty silly since I know from the amount of people in the casino they must have been near empty Sunday nite. I was tired and thought about paying for a room, which I haven't done in quite along while, but then just decided to head home on the train. I had done pretty well and probably wouldn't have played much the following day anyway.

I'm shocked the trains were running since I know they were shut down where I live. I'm sure you were surprised when they declined giving you a room. Chances are you've been made. This has happened to me too. I'm guessing the roads there must be ok if you were able to go from the Marina district back to the boardwalk.

Transportation between casinos wasn't a problem.

nice 1-day variance!!
Of course not. I am a cheapskate who usually takes the jitneys or even better the free shuttle between casinos, but on sunday even I sprung for a cab. :)
