Anthony Curtis's Pocketbook of Values coupon package

In Barfarkel's book, coupons gave him a big boost, but I thought he also stated later in the book, that the Pocketbook of Values coupon package is no longer as valuable as it used to be. I'm trying to plan my next trip to Vegas. I only go about twice a year. I'll be there five nights in June.

So my question is, Is it worth subscribing to the Las Vegas Advisor just to get the Pocketbook of Values coupon package?

Thanks.

I get my money's worth from the book, but that is only because I spend a great deal of time in Las Vegas. The match-play coupon at Fiesta (worth up to $25) is sure nice, and the $50 in chips for $40 at the Sahara is another little bonus. There are a few other $5 and $10 match-plays, which are nice too.

Much of the value is in other things. There are a few coupons for 2-for-1 buffets, and 2-for-1 or discounted rooms (sunday through thursday), among other coupons.

If you are just going for 2 or 3 days, it might not be worth the $50 for the book and membership. If you go a few times a year, or are taking an extended trip, I would buy it.

My trip in Feb,I used the $25 Fiesta MP(won),Rampart$10 MP(lost, but got a nice Tshirt for joining),Terribles MP(lost, got tshirt)El Cortez2-1 room(saved $40),used the 50% off coupon for Robertas(saved $25),the 2-1 for the dining room at The Vegas Club(saved $30),2-1 at Binions deli(saved$10),$50 for$40 at The Sahara, the free burger at Wildfire(don't waste your time),and a bunch of coupons from The American Casino guide.
I got my moneys worth and have the two best coupons -50% off anything at the Palms,up to $100,and unlimited drinks for 2 at Ellis Island and many more MP and 2-1 dining coupns left.
If you join on-line,its only $37.A dinner at The palms will get your money back.

The POV is a mere shadow of its former glory. We mostly burned it out in '02 when it had 8 or so 3-1 ($25) coups plust a 60-min 2-1 BJ coup. I once burned thru 20 books in 10 days. zg

Thats all great, but doesn't answer if you think its a good value.
For a $37 on-line membership to LVA,you get all the coupons, access to the members only site where you get all the info you'll ever need, daily coupons that aren't in the POV and a bit more. If you will be there twice and will have a car(theres a great Enterprise coupon, first real good car rental coupon I've seen in years) and don't mind casino hopping its well worth it in my opinion. I'll happily buy the leftovers when you finish.
I'd also recommend The American Casino Guide, which also has some great coupons.
THE LVA has a members only deal with Casino magazine for two years for $24. You also get the Casino Funbook. Now that is a funbook thats a shadow of itself.
you cansee all the coupons for yourself at http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com

Zengrifter and others,

Do you still feel this way about the POV? Is there a coupon book you do recommend? I will be there for a good 5 days next week.

Thanks,
Wiggum

Pick up American casino guide. Has at least a dozen $5 and $10 MP's at strip, just off strip and downtown casinos, Plus $25 matchplay at sahara. More if you hit outlying areas. Note: Sahara is due to close mid may. I think the 15th or 16th.

Also, ask for winchip/win card promotions. Adds extra value to small BR. Circus circus has pay $30, get $45, plus $5 mp in thier coupon book. mandalay bay, and luxor pay $20 get $30, Ex Cal pay $10, get $15. Not sure if Hardrock and 4 queens downtown still has win cards or not.

Thanks kewljason!

I appreciate it very much!

FYI, if anyone wants this book, order it online ahead of time and get it for $12. I don't have the time so will pay full price of $19. Darn!

Go to the books webpage. It list every coupon. Read it and decide which coupons you will use. if there is a value, you should buy it.
