Hold your tongue!

Last night I was playing next to one of those annoying ploppies who think they know how to play blackjack better than everyone else at the table. He would sigh when someone made a "bad" play and say "are you kidding?" when someone bought insurance.

After a while I almost lost it. I wanted to yell at him "do you have any idea what the count is?!? Of course I'm going to double this 8 against a 5 you moron!!" Thankfully I held my tongue.

How do you guys do it? I'm afraid I am going to blow someday when I'm having a weak moment. It's usually easy to ignore those guys but some seem to be extra good at getting under my skin.

Simply let it go. It doesn't matter what these guys think unless you let it bother you. I've learned to just ignore these guys. Its just not worth my time giving them any attention. They can whine all they want about me, I just don't care. I'm in the casino to make money, not friends.

I usually just subtly mock them. This can be very entertaining once you get good at it. It's best when you have someone else at the table who understands that you are making fun of the oblivious ploppy.

I go with SystemsTrader on this one. I just ignore them. They are totally irrelivant to me and my goals. I have long since stopped getting annoyed at those situations and now am just amused. You can however use this situation to your advantage. If I make a play that the ploppie considers a bad play, like doubling my A8 vs 5, doubling 8 vs 6, standing 15 vs X at the appropriate count, then the count is already fairly high. So if my play annoys them and they leave....My advantage! If I can do or say anything to help that along I will. If they have a comment, I just smile and laugh right in their face. That usually bothers them. If they try to question my actions, I may respond with something like, "the lord lucifer ate the baby's feet again!" That will usually end any converation between us and again further annoys them.

Learn to be the stressor not the stressee. :)

One of my favorite lines is "feel free to move to another table". The answer to this, is almost always, "no, I just want you to play right". Then just smile and say "well I am not going to". They are usually gone within a hand or two.

i hate people like this, ive actually flipped on a drunk guy once, luckily he didnt feel like beating my ass. but he said we play too crazy when we surrender 14 vs a 10 or wave 15 vs an ace. it was true 10 buddy, and i reamed him oout hard for hitting 16 vs a 6. i told him hes the stupidest ****in player ive ever met. felt great.

That particular circumstance drives me absolutely nuts. The logic just amazes me. I've had idiots blaspheming me for surrendering or doubling down on certain hands where the "flow" of the cards is not an issue. What difference does it make whether I stand on 16 v.10 or surrender it? Either way I'm not taking a card. Go figure!

These guys get to me too. It seem that the worst players are the ones to try to tell another player what to do. I had one guy that would hollow each time a player got a pair to split ,split,split no matter what dealer up card was. The dam guy actually lasted a lot longer then I thought he would. Every body at the table including the dealer was glad when he finally lost and left. pogo

Or in ST's case I will just handle them for him:laugh:;)

I like that, too. Worked great earlier this week when he left at a +3.

Another line I like is "You look fairly intelligent. I'm surprised you'd make such a stupid comment."

EXACTLY, daddybo. I stay focused on my game and goal and could care less what others say or think. When I do try to "move them along" it's not because they are annoying me, it's because the count is positive and it is more EV for me if they weren't there, otherwise I could care less what they do or say. If the counts neutral or negative I just ignore them and laugh at them.

Remember to check your ego at the door. If you've impressed the other players at the table that you're good -- you've failed! You want them to think you're an idiot. That's success.

Hit a few 13 vs 3 or 4's, 12 vs 5's or 6's... and I find they leave me alone once and for all.

I don't have to say a word.

BJC

After you've put out a few max bets and win... I've also found they stop questioning how you play....

Here's a disturbing analogy to help keep things straight:

Casino = slaughterhouse
You = slaughterhouse worker
He = pig.

You and he have very different roles in this building. You can expect him to squeal, but all the squealing in the wold isn't going to change his fate, and only one of you is going to be leaving this place intact.

Haha sounds like a horror movie.

Last night was the worst. Dealer had ace up 5 times in one shoe with a count above 3. I got insurance all 5 and lost them all, while the ploppie kept telling me it a suckers bet. Uuuugh! I felt like an idiot. But I guess being the "idiot" at the table is a good thing. Haha. Still ended the night with a real nice win!

That cracked me up so badly:laugh:

People have yelled at me for disturbing their flow of cards usually when I hit a 12v2, 12v3, or, (god forbid!) a 12v4 in those rare situations

I laugh inside and don't let it bother me because I just think that they're probably just mad they're losing all their money to the casinos, and I know I'm not :laugh:
