What do you guys think of this book: Blackjack For Blood: The Card-Counters' Bible, and Complete Winning Guide by Bruce Carlson ?

It's gotten good reviews on Amazon but I can't seem to find any word on it from other BJ forums or websites?

I'm also thinking of these two: Blackjack Blue Book II by Renzey and Blackbelt in Blackjack by Snyder

But the latter two I've heard good things about although it has a slightly less rating on Amazon so I don't know. I'm almost done reading Blackjack: Play Like The Pros by John Bukofsky so I want to get another book to start as soon as I'm done since I heard this book is only "ok". Unfortunately I HAD to get it because it was literally the only book on blackjack in the store. That's why I'm going to Amazon now and getting something that the good men (and women) on this site can vouch for.

I am using the Hi-Lo count in cause those books differ at all with counts. I also want to make sure that I didn't get a book that is a re-release of an old book with tactics that don't work anymore :-(

P.S. Since Amazon has the $25 deal where you get free shipping I might buy up to four books as long as it doesn't cost over $30. I was thinking of getting a book that is a story or an autobiography. I would LOVE one about blackjack but even a gambling book would be interesting. I am more interested in true stories but wouldn't throw out the idea of fiction.

Blackjack for Blood is a very good book with some dated information. The games have changed considerably since it was written. You would probably want to find something a lttle more modern if you are starting out.

I would recommend your next book be Blackjack Attack by Don S. It's a must have for every serious blackjack player. As for stories I would suggest Barfarkel's "You've got Heat" Its a bunch of trip reports about a red chip player and the ups and downs he encounters. The book may be out of print however. There is also "Bringing Down the House" for entertainment value and "The Counter" by Kevin Blackwood. However I have not read that one yet.

BJ blueprint by Blaine is good, but if you like stories try

You've got heat 1 & 2 - both are e-books so you save on shipping

and both of Andersons books are ok

A book with a little story telling and very good pointers is Bootleggers 200 proof.

Along the lines of biography/novel type books I enjoyed both The Counter and Play Blackjack Like The Pros by Kevin Blackwood. Of course Uston's books are always a fun read.

Amazon reviews are worthless. Mein Kampf has rave reviews there.

I'm sure those reviews are based on the quality of the translation, and the importance of the text as a piece of history, and not as an endorsement, or adulation of the man and his views. Well, maybe 1 or 2 reviews might be by some skinheads, but still.

I'm sure there are rave reviews on there about the bible, and I certainly don't think that is a good read.

BJFB by Bryce Carlson is great for learning AOII if you have an interest in learning a level II count that works well for sd & dd. I don't know who Bruce Carlson is but perhaps he is closely related.

As others have eluded to the information is somewhat dated in BJFB. Blackbelt in BJ is also informative regarding hi-lo lite, hi-lo & zen, I seem to recall. Both books are great reading and full of useful information.

Other great reads are BJ Attack by Don S and Pro BJ by S Wong.

IMHO, the lineage and credibility of the author is more important than the subject matter. All of the aforementioned authors are very well respected.

I'm certainly glad that Don doesn't post here because he would puke if I mentioned him and Snyder in the same post.:vomit:

I think Blackjack for Blood is a great book, although it may be a bit much for a beginner. I'd recommend Blackbelt in Blackjack and Blackjack Bluebook II to start with. They build a great foundation for understanding the game.

Did you miss the reviews that said "Finally the truth about Jews?":) But, look at the reviews for John Patrick's books or Walter Thomason. The absolute worst books on gambling have overall top reviews.
