I was shocked to read that not so many of you big players made more than six figures this year. I'm just curious what unit you guys are playing with - esp the guys who've been playing longer..

I play a measly $15 u.

$25 for the most part. I play a couple $50 double deck tables that have better rules than $25 tables, so play a $50 unit at those.

I don't understand the homo reference. Straight guys don't have units?

"No homo" is a colloquialism meaning "I don't mean this in a gay way." Sort of like what happens when you talk about getting good penetration at the Four Queens, etc.

A "unit" is a very difficult term to describe. Kind of a holdout from the days where SD was dominant and you played every hand. If by unit you mean minimum bet, ideally it should be zero.

Oh and most of us on this site are part-timers, so our yearly income is going to be limited by how much time we have to play and what games we have available, not BR or experience or anything like that.

On this site, when I hear terms like unit and penetration, only the blackjack references cross my mind. Maybe thats just me. Now if you were to say "I got great penetration at the Four Queens, and afterwords, played some blackjack", well maybe.

I just love it when Monkey posts! I have to open a seperate window for Merriam-Websters.

$30. Although once I was back counting a $50 table for fun with no intention of playing until the count skyrocketed so I jumped in (a little above my means), however, I made $1500 in 10mins.

at the casino I like to go to, all the tables have $500 max's

and the min at the different tables is $5, $10, $25, I generally try to get a seat at the $5 one IF they are offering a $5-$500 spread table, but normally I end up sitting at a $10-$500 table

Locally $25.. will play for smaller stakes if traveling and the rules are better than 8D H17.. A little under bank rolled for a $25 unit but it gets me a better game in my area.. 6D S17 instead of 8D H17.

I have to say that I've been very fortunate in having little negative variance as I used to be extremely under bank rolled for the way I played which is often the demise of many players
