Playing last base in ENHC

Is there any strategy variations in this situation where you get to decide if the next card goes to either you or the dealer?

Like 15v10, if the next card is 7-10 you will lose whether you hit or stand. If the card is 2-6 though, is it better to make a better hand, or let the dealer have it in hope that the following card after it is a 10 card and they'll bust?

Same goes for 16v9 16v10 and any others you can think of.

Well . . . . if you're one of those extraordinary people who lecture everyone on their "mistake" in taking or not taking a card where the dealer cleans up (in the knowledge of what the card was before it was drawn) then sitting at third base would give you a tremendous advantage as you suggest.

But if you're one of us mere mortals, without said powers, just stick to the maths and apply the index plays to decide whether it is right to stand or hit on those hands (assuming that you count the cards to ascertain when conditions have moved in your favour). If you don't count cards, just hit it whilst keeping your fingers crossed in the knowledge that longer term you'll lose less by doing this.

Even if you do count the cards, a 15v7 is a crap hand as the index to stand on it is TC+10, which you will rarely see. The coincidence of such a high count, coupled with this hand putting in an appearance, is probably so marginal many who count may not even bother to learn it.

Good luck.

Potentially, if you had 11 separate side counts, you would have a more accurate description of the distribution of remaining cards, and could make better index plays. But, these are still index plays, albeit more advanced and accurate. However, without any side counts you can still be around 60%-70% accurate in terms of index plays without any side counts. And what you described assumes you are in 3rd base (i.e. last to act), and generating indices for specific seat positions is possible, but useless.

If you are truly interested in making the most of your index plays learn a system with a high PE, and learn about ace side counts.
