Does pit care if...

...you are winning but aren't spreading your bets at all?

I was up around $300 last night at a table after cashing in with $40. After I left, my buddy (who doesn't play) was telling me the pit boss was standing by me for a while and looking at me. I told him it didn't really matter since I wasn't spreading my tips. I was counting but only to know what plays to make. The count only really ever got high enough once to put down 3 units at most. So obviously that's the most I ever put down.

Anyways, yeah last night was awesome luck so I'm happy. But if you're not spreading tips and just betting the minimum (even if you are winning alot) they don't really care about you right?

They don't sweat nickel players on shoes. There could be a number of reasons they were watching you, or maybe they weren't.

or it could have been you saying the count out loud....
I'm really not that stupid. I always make sure I write it on a cocktail napkin and put my hand over the number afterwards. If anyone does happen to see the number I just say I am adding up the hand totals :joker:

I just enter the numbers on my calculator, the casino lets me bring a calculator to the table because they like me :)

you really cant do that , use your fingers chips or anything else , with the roof camera they can easily see the number if u use HiLo is worst.
put a hand inside your jacket with the number, with 1 hand you can recall a number from 1 to 10 at least . months ago i use to did it .

oppinion on play

If you were making index plays regardless of your spread they marked your play. When you vary your bet but it doesn't coincede with the count they may interput that as dumb luck. Better to swing wild or all over the count than to make index plays because if you stay to long they got your number. They look at both to see if you are what they think you are the longer you stay the more information your're giving them.

He only won $300 .. well $260 profit .... Is the amount really worth the casino time?

IF it is, they are too tight for anyone to play there...

I don't agree with this. Index plays generally won't give you away. Many dealers and such know BS and as soon as you deviate, especially with some of the more extreme index plays you look like a worse player. Wildly varying bets is what gives you away.

Hmm not sure I agree here. Personally I have found that most dealers know *most* basic strategy, but for some plays such as splitting 9's, some A7 plays, etc., I haven't found a dealer who knows BS exactly. Perhaps it's different in other parts of the country though :)

index plays

The most important is not overstaying your table time limit. Yes you stand on 16vs 10 enough in high counts and watch the reactions. You jump your bets in high counts without mixing it up and watch what the reactions are. Don't be brain dead and aloof to what is happening around you. Getting dog tossed in a red chip game isn't too smart because when you advance to the green chip level you already poisened the waters there for yourself.

Yeah, this was basically my question which you answered. Honestly, every time I did hit on 12 against a 6 or stood on 16 against a 10 it just seemed to confirm to everyone that I sucked. lol.
