Player of the week award

First of all I wish to say that I am thankful that there are lots of people with plenty of money that want to play blackjack in a casino but are too lazy to review a basic stategy chart before they do it. Someone has to keep the casinos in business! The alternate name of this post should be "Monkey see monkey do"...

I am playing at a low stakes table and nothing spectacular was happening. I was marking time, hanging out, thinking of what to do, where to go and I don't normally play at these tables in AC since the rules are terrible (not to say that the rules aren't terrible in all AC casinos no matter what the minimums). The count was doing nothing too terribly special and at one point I split my 3's against the dealer's 7. It pans out and I get a nice double out of it. Although it had little relevance, I was winning and somewhat ahead. The player next to me (who was losing badly) a few hands later gets the 3's just like I did in a neutral count and ALSO splits them... against the dealer's 8! He loses and claims he did that because he saw me do it and win when the dealer casually mentioned that he made an incorrect move.

I don't normally have too much conversation with other players if I can help it, especially this sort of player but I spoke up and said, "I split the 3's against a 7, not an 8 first of all. Next of all, had you looked at a basic strategy chart before playing this game, you would have known the proper move." This started him going a bit, talking about how he's played a lot of blackjack and knows what he is doing, etc.

Player's that are losing like to come up with any reason they can that they are losing other than themselves making bad calls or bad bets. It's the "hot shoe" for the dealer, the other player's moves tripped them up (sacred flow of the cards scenario), anything regardless of plausibility as long as it's not their fault. I watched this player make numerous more basic strategy errors and do some odd progression betting that caused him to bet a little too high in a crummy count. He kept on losing badly and buying in for more, a real glutton for punishment. He blamed everything and everyone other than himself or his own doing for his bad luck along the way.

This was a younger guy so you can imagine his manner of dress. He was one of those "baggy pants guys" that really push the envelope and the crotch of his pants was just about down to his knees. It was time for me to move on, perhaps try the next casino down the road but just before I left (I couldn't help myself), I said, "You may think you are cool and fashionable with the crotch of your pants down to your knees but out on the boardwalk earlier today I saw a guy MUCH cooler and more fashionable than you because the crotch of his pants was damn near all the way down to his ankles to the point that he had difficulty walking and had to have one hand on his pants at all times so they wouldn't fall down as he walked."

It's not like me to "kick someone when they are down" but oh what the heck... if you're not too bright, flat broke and don't even have enough common sense to wear pants that fit maybe someone should tell you. I moved on to the next casino that I had in mind to find a game that I could actually begin playing for the day.

Ya, those "Baggy Pants Guys", make me ill, especially when they are sporting ear rings and TaTs. They can be so entertaining at the tables, love to give them bad info,,sad cases they are..so weak mentally,,the "Dead End Gang".

Britches falling down: born out of the ghettos by wearing too big hand-me-downs and quite possibly the worst fashion "fad" ever.

That, and "you go girl" should just GO!!!:whip:

I watch/record Cops every week.

Favorite scenes are when these guys run from the cops, and trip when their pants fall around their ankles:laugh:.

The fashion derives from the inmate population where belts are prohibited. It's not easy walking around with your pants down like that. Being able to do so shows you've spent time in jail and presumably are a tough guy.

Its human nature, to blame someone else I guess. You'll find these types of attitudes, everywhere you go, they're not limited too, just blackjackjack players, at the tables. Its an egotistical thing; not too much different than, why, some of the arguments, that take place, on these very boards.

Dealers have told me that when a ploppy is winning it's due to his "knowledge of the game." When the same ploppy is losing, it's the dealers fault. Go figure.:joker:

Its really funny because I make a signifigant effort to appear as one of "Those Guys" when I play bj, I own some authentic wigger attire including hats with stickers, hoodies with dollar signs, chains etc.

You'll have to scrutinise them carefully, I walk amongst them

Careful with your descriptions, ferret!

If you recall how we met, you wonged in next to me at Trop and after a few big bets, I looked at you and said,"Ferret?" based on the descriptions you posted here.
