Default Callow Youth and renting a car in Las Vegas

If you are in Las Vegas without a car, you are VERY limited as to where you can play, especially if you are looking for low stakes.

I just rented a car for 7 days for next week in Las vegas [from Hertz]

Car rentals are cheap in Las Vegas.
I have a car reserved for me (4/14 − 21)
Comes to just $18.70 per day inclusive.

Car daily rate - Hotwire Hot Rate: $10.95
Rental days:7
Subtotal:$76.65
Tax recovery charges and fees:$54.33
Total price:$130.98
Total charges to my credit card$130.98

If <$19/day (divided among you and your crew) is too much of an expense,
you're irrational in taking a Las Vegas trip that you seemingly cannot afford.
Just getting internet access in your room will cost nearly as much at most properties.

Note: If nobody in your crew is >25 years of age, prices will be higher.

Because without a car, you won't be able to get to The Longhorn, Jerrys, Silver Nugget, Orleans, Rampart or a half dozen other places you should get to.

However, my stupid ass friend played a single decker for four hours and got flat bet playing low red chips. So, stay long enough, and eventually they'll catch you.

Downtown is quite sweaty.
Moo, respond to my PM please. zg

I like the games downtown: Binions, Fremont, Plaza. They have $1-$5 games. Look for 3:2 pay on Blackjacks though. Many of the casino are doing 6:5. I know the Vegas Club as of April 2010 are doing 4-deck shoe games with fetish-dressed dealers and go-go dancers. Not to shabby if your a first-timer. Best of luck!

Do you know what rules will be in effect on the 4-deckers? (Maybe it really doesn't matter with all the extra entertainment.)

As a reliable rule of thumb, once a casino offers you a pit of sexy female dealers they offer it with a bad set of rules to go along with the cleavage.

Plus, if you walk a little further towards the back of the Vegas Club, they have better games...but it is a lot harder to see the pole dancers. Choose your poison

good luck

I didn't see any games there that I'd classify as good.

I wouldn't either. Better is a relative term...at least it was in October.

Are you going with family or significant other?

if so do they play blackjack as well?

My advice.. RENT A CAR RENT A CAR RENT A CAR!!!

You will be able to hit much more casino that offer decent games.

Your playing time will dictate which casinos will have playable games.

Honestly if you renting a car the only place your going to want to play downtown is El Cortez, they have a $3 bj with the best rules your gonna find at those stakes and 60-80 pen (yes i said 80 percent with some dealers) Stay away from the other joints. A good reason to stay away from these joints is because they are high traffic areas and youll get a lot of ploppies running in and out of your game. It will happen at El Cortez but mostly on the $3 table and the Single deck tables, Usually your sitting with max 2 players at the $5 tables.

If your renting a car it opens up worlds of options.

Red rock i beleive usually has $5 games early morning and good Pen. (it may vary by dealer)
Santa fe station always has $5 tables usually 1 or 2 open early morning but more open up at noon. Pen varies by dealer so dont be afraid to jump tables to find good pen.

Alliante Station, VERY nice casino, up north about 20 minutes from downtown, great game of bj here, get there before noon table mins will be $5 and switch over at noon.

Boulder station pen varies by dealer however there pit crew are very nice on grave and swing, very accomadating with comps. They have 1-3 tables open on grave, when swing comes in they open up 2-3 more.
Palace station if your going to play graveyard should have some $5 DD which is a very good. Early mornings (after 9pm) the mins are usually $10

Silver Nugget, ive played here but not for long but its one of the best Double decks youll find, and honestly dont worry about spread here if you get backed off its not the end of the world.

Jerrys Nugget has only 1 table for DD sometimes its busy sometimes its dead. ive seen either or on any given night during peak hours. Pen varies by dealer but most the ones ive seen give 65-70 a few dont.

Long horn and Big horn casino, 6 decks only. decent rules but honestly you can find just as good of a $5 shoe game at the stations, Greenvalley i saw the other night the dealer was cutting off only 1-1.25 decks. Also. LH BH are CRAZY local joints i have been in both using matchplay and honestly i not usually nervous but i didnt feel good about having my bankroll in my pocket in this place.

Also if you dont know, Order a American Casino guide from amazon for $12... if you have a buddy going or signifcant other get one for them too. Tons of Match plays and good food offers.

I dont really recommend Arizona charlies although its a great atmosphere and the pit crew is nice, pen varies by dealer there is always an open table but a lot of them deal 50 percent only a few go deeper. Sometimes its just not worth the drive.

Dont worry to much about your $5-30 spread. If you have a $3k bankroll youll be fine. Dont be afraid to get up and switch tables if more then one person sits down to yours and there is another open table around. Unless you know the other dealer has terrible pen and your dealer is going deep.

Hope this helps.
