strange table rule?

I am a regular CT and AC player who recently returned from first trip to Vegas. I encountered a few odd table rules that I was not used to but one in particular left me still scratching my head. I had been playing at a smaller (non-resort) property near the strip. It was a 6 deck shoe game $25 min. I had been playing a single spot and tried to play 2 additional hands when a few people left the table. I was told by the dealer and pit that I could play multiple spots but would have to increase my minimum. In other words, table min was $25 per hand and if I wanted to play 2 spots I would have to play 2x min ($50) on each, 3 hands would be 3x min ($75) on each hand etc... I started to argue but backed down as I was up a fair amount in an unfamiliar casino and thought it better to not make a scene. Is this a common rule that anyone has encountered before or was I being hassled?
What bothers me about it is I can not figure out the logic of this rule. If they perceived my multiple hand play as a threat woudln't they want to limit my wagering rather than increase it?

Not an uncommon rule. The stores do that to keep people from tying up the tables with multiple spot minbets.

There is no logic to it, but it is a common rule outside the Northeast.

Here's the reverse that baffles the imagination, and explains why the casino's bottom line is in the toilet:
I was playing 2 spots in an AC casino, betting chunky green to black (good count at that moment). I was forced to give up one of my spots (it was crowded) to another player who proceeded to bet $10/hand. I tried to convince the pit to let me continue the 2 hands until the end of the shoe, to no avail.

WOW. sometimes you just have to shake your head and wonder if these managers wake up in the morning saying to themselves, "today, i dont feel like making as much money as i can."

Down here the rules are 2 hands must be 2x table min at least, 3 hands or more must be table max.

I was playing a DD game in Vegas recently the person next to me left in the middle of a round and I tried to play the spot and the dealer would not let me said there was no NMS since I had been playing there 30 min I thought it was kind of weird.

Come on guys!!!!! Heck half the stuff they do in the pit is Voodoo.... Hey i got a hot player over here...i will show him... i have a super hot dealer to take this guy down...So he/she moves the hot dealer thinking that will save the day... Friggin idiots.
Here's what i get from thepit all the time when playing 3cp....Did ya do any good on the slots today? Then they proceed to tell me which ones are gonna hit ... blah blah blah blah...
I talk to slot managers all the time...Trust me they havent a clue on the inner workings of a slot machine.....They pass this cluelessness down to the next chump!
They are just ploppies with suites on.... cheap suits at that!!!!!
I look at them just as i would a Walmart Cashier. Simple words and talk slow.

I've seen such rules. I would just put out my minimum bet on 3 spots. Then the dealer tells me "You can't do that, you have to play table max." I answer "What do you mean, the sign says the minimum bet is $25?" Then the PC comes over and says "Sorry it's a house rule."

"All right, I guess I have to bet table max then, but that's not a fair rule" as I grudgingly push out a bunch of black chips.
