Fort Randall Casino

#1
Was in south dakota and wanted to go play, nearest casino was Fort Randall, very small casino like 5 Bj tables, low limits during day was 2-25 and at night 2-100. They played with 5 decks. But the peneteration was so good I think one shoe when cut card hit there was maybe 40 cards left. Played for maybe 2 hours ranging my small bets from $5 to table max and walked out of there with quick money just under 1K not bad for a few hours work. Wouldnt drive out of the way to get there , but if u close by would make a stop for a quick hit!!! Wish table max was 1k would have destroyed them!!!

The penetration was, judging by your estimate, >80%
That is VERY good IF, and only IF, the rules were good.
You neglected to illuminate the rules.

If you are willing to bet $1,000 on your top hands then you
OBVIOUSLY must be wealthy, or you have a SIX figure bankroll.

I am glad you had a good time.

However, this is a small tribe that is not rich, even with the casino... and they are to be respected as a noble people.

I actually cringe when you make a statement like a "quick hit" and the term that you would have "destroyed them". Again, they do not deserve your arrogance but your respect. They respect you by offering fair games, return the favor.:)

Thanks,
CP

They are not cutting deeply to be fair, they are doing so to minimize downtime for shuffling.

A casino that is willing to exploit addiction by offering gambling is not an entity that one should feel guilty about winning money from, my humble opinion.

>80% penetration is sufficient, particularly with the spread the OP used, for any rule set. Even if it is worst case scenario for a shoe game (H17 DAS no RSA, i haven't seen worse) you are giving bad advice by suggesting it is unbeatable.

I was NOT suggesting it is “unbeatable“

If the OP isn’t a strong player this will be a marginal game with BAD rules.

My hunch is that the OP is little more than a Basic Strategy player, imagining that he has found the rainbow route to the “pot of gold”

He mentioned that he thought that just 40 cards were cut off from ONE particular shoe.

Yeah. Casinos are there to take advantage of people. Yes, casinos deserve to get beaten.

But, CP is partially right: don't go into a small tribal joint and absolutely massacre the game. Poor form, could cost people jobs, and most imporantly there may be a safety issue.

Don't forget we stole the land from these guys in the first place, and this is our way of making up for it.

We?
I have never taken land from anyone.
I owe them nothing.
If you go back in time probably every group of people were exploited at some point.

I believe in Western/Christian beliefs one is not responsible for the sins of the father.

Yes, but you are not allowed to keep your fathers, "fruits of the crime".

Show them love, this country destroyed their culture as well as their lives.

I would love to take this further but this is not the place and it has been discussed on Zen many times.

I guess we'd all better find another country to live in then. I was just thinking about doing that but I cannot find another country that was not taken away from the aborigines.

Actually I can do whatever I damn well please in this country and I certainly don't need your approval. Any misgivings our government had with Indians is ancient history and we now cow-tow to these people who have become a special interest group and have had a slew of special rights and privileges bestowed upon them.

Put that in your peace-pipe and smoke it. ;)

So with 2 dollar minimums, great pen and no heat, still marginal if the dealer hits soft 17?

I should tell all of the people who play a game with H17 and 80-90% pen they should stop, as it is a marginal game :joker:

What I said was:

"If the OP isn’t a strong player this will be a marginal game with BAD rules.

… a Basic Strategy player. … 40 cards were cut off from ONE ... shoe.

If playing Basic Strategy RULES are what is important — NOT penetration.

H17 without LS (and hopefully RSA) is a lousy game.

Ploppies may pay attention to pen’ for a variety of reasons, e.g.:
  • They have “heard” that you “cut thin to win”
  • “Progression Bettors“ may want to “reset” their progression upon a shuffle.
  • They may be too impatient / impulsive to (comfortably) wait for a hand-shuffle to complete.
  • “Money Managers” may desire a certain number of shoes to stay / leave.
  • “Pure“ (unadulterated) silly superstition.

Indian Casino's

I did not take anything from them. They have a casino because they can. I play in it because I can. If they do not want me taking their money because I have skills.....then don't allow me to play.

I have and will continue to take advantage of their good rules because they allow me to play.

They have an advantage over a lot of people and they make TAX free $$$.

To tell me to refrain from using my skills and taking their money is laughable.

They do not hesitate to take my money, I will not hesitate to take theirs.

Why should they pay taxes,,,????....they are a sovern nation.

When you do play show them respect, you are among a noble race that once owned this entire land. Honor them.

It is a myth that these Indian casinos do not generate tax revenue.

For instance, every employee pays income tax, provided they make enough money to pay taxes.
