Player A3 VS Dealer 3?

#1
Hi, I was once dealt A3 with dealer's up card of 3, then the evil CSM:devil: broke down, the pit boss came and ask if we wanted the bet refunded or playe on after a hand shuffle.

The poor lady withdrew her hard 19, while i decided to play on, was it a right move? or should i have given up the hand and have the bet refunded?

Good lad!! the expectation value on that hand is ~ +4.5%, so you made a wise decision :)

Edit:That is assuming you play the hand the correctly and hit it :)

According to the EV tables (Archive copy), hitting that hand gives you an advantage of around 5%. That ain't a bad bet to make. As for the "poor lady" at the table, there's a reason she's poor - she gave up a 40% edge on that hand. The casino doesn't offer you a bet like that every day, at least not for long...before they arrest you.

oh by the way, i ended up standing on a hard 15 and the dealer beat me:whip:

As noted above, they offered the option to withdraw the bet because their CSM was not working.

These are places where you wish the CSM always broke-down on you

Did the poor lady have a losing sidebet? I saw a woman withdraw a blackjack because she had a bigger losing bet on the perfect pairs sidebet she wanted refunded.

hey good point ! didn't think of that, but no, only $1-5 would be bet on perfect pair, while the table minimum is $20:rolleyes:
