Pop Culture Converges In ... North Dakota???
Rock Icon Alice Cooper's Bizarre Trip to Fargo, ND on May 15, 2006 Will
Include Handprints, a Key, and Internet Phenom

NEW YORK, May 10 /CNW/ -- Rock icon Alice Cooper's six-month long
North American tour just took a turn for the weird, as befitting a strange and
illustrious career that has included accusations of throwing a live chicken
into an audience at one of his shocking shows. A routine stop in Fargo, ND on
May 15, 2006, has turned into a bizarre pop culture moment that includes
Alice's handprints, the key to Alice, ND, and an eight-foot red paperclip.
Seriously.
In town to promote his most recent album release, Dirty Diamonds, Alice
Cooper will leave his mark on North Dakota in a number of ways. First he will
add his handprints to Fargo's bustling "Walk of Fame." In another act of civic
duty, Alice Cooper will head 50 miles out of Fargo to tiny Alice, ND
(population 60), to receive the key to the city. Perhaps the oddest of all
Alice's North Dakota events, though, is his meeting with Kyle MacDonald of
OneRedPaperClip.com.
The story of Kyle MacDonald has wowed people around the world as he
attempts to use a single red paperclip to barter his way to a free house. Nine
months and seven trades later, his current barter bait is an afternoon with
Alice Cooper. A young woman who works in Alice Cooper's sports bar and
restaurant, Cooper'stown in downtown Phoenix, AZ, traded Kyle an afternoon
with the legendary shock rocker for Kyle's most recent acquisition, a year's
free rent in Phoenix.
"Kyle is out-Trumping Donald Trump," says Alice Cooper. "I can't believe
he's getting me to trade myself for him to get a house, but it's just crazy
enough that I couldn't resist. Whoever gets to spend a day with me better get ready for a wild ride!"
With several Good Morning America appearances and a book and movie deal already, Kyle will embark on a new adventure when he meets Alice Cooperface-to-face in Fargo, ND. The two will promote the trade on Alice Cooper's radio show, "Nights With Alice Cooper" (
http://www.NightsWithAliceCooper.com),broadcast on over 90 stations across the country to millions of fans. Kyle will appeal to Alice's rabid following to bid on the afternoon with Alice Cooper so he can continue his quest to trade his way to a house.
Kyle will also join Alice Cooper on stage with a giant eight-foot red
paperclip as a token of Alice's appreciation for the insanity of Kyle's quest.
That craziness is something Alice can appreciate -- after all, he's done
everything from revolutionizing Rock N Roll with gender-bending attire and
makeup and violent theatrics, to running for president on behalf of the "Wild
Party" (he lost to Nixon).
Alice Cooper has released 28 albums since 1970, including Billion Dollar
Babies, School's Out, Welcome To My Nightmare, and Trash, yielding iconic hits such as "I'm Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," "Poison," and "Only Women Bleed." Since the debut of "Nights with Alice Cooper" in January of 2004 the program has gained millions of devoted listeners and is rated #1 in 30 markets. Cooper has interviewed guests ranging from Roger Daltrey to Peter Frampton to David Duchovny on the program, which airs 25 hours a week on nearly 100 affiliates in the United States, plus additional stations in
Canada, the UK and Australia.
