Beyond Counting: the website and the book

So I purchased "The Book" 2 weeks ago and still haven't received it. I checked out the forum on the website, I can't post because it won't let me create a profile. I emailed the site admin, no response. Is JG running the whole show? Is he busy doing his own stuff and doesn't want to be bothered with running the site or selling stuff?

Also, is someone willing to let me borrow the book until my copy comes, if it comes at all?

I assure you you are being scrutinized JB..... Like a back ground check... It takes a while.... Relax...either he will sell you the book or he won't.

Firstly, i would try signing up to his message board and post rather than here (i've just checked and there's no problems with registration to his forum - the 'member's area' on the main site has never been active as far as i'm aware). You're more likely to get a responce through that.
Secondly i'd check your payment method, if nothing's been taken either the order hasn't been dealt with yet or you're not getting it.
I do know - although i'm not sure whether it's really my place to say this - that JG vets all orders very very carefully, has caught a good number of casino staff trying to order copies and treats all orders as very suspicious at this point. Book sales are far from a substantial source of income for him, so he's not concerned about the money, only ensuring that the book ends up in the hands of the right people.
I might also suggest that asking to 'borrow' a copy of the book may well go against you if the decision hasn't already been made.

Relax?!?! I can't relax if he doesn't sell me the book. It means I'm not cool enough to join his club if I don't get one!

doesn't my posting on this site regularly give me some credibility? I'll probably pm him here. although no one answered on his site, I don't see why he would check over here.

I just tried signing up again. I keep getting the error message "invalid choice." It doesn't tell me what I entered incorrectly. I've changed how I entered the confirmation code, changed my handle, idk.

I saw my bank statement, the money has already been taken out.

FWIW, CAA, if you're reading this, I've met Jack_Black several times and he's OK. Then the question becomes am I OK? ;) References available upon request.

Yes, you're OK.

It's not plausible that any attempt to keep a casino employee from buying a book would succeed or even be attempted by a reasonable person. I suppose one could check an order against a list of people with gaming licenses but that would be ineffective against anyone who has a friend or relative who doesn't have a gaming license. But a blurb like "Not for sale to casino employees!" is a cheap way to promote the book. The forbidden is always attractive.

Likewise, shouldn't it not be plausible for a non casino employee to not get their hands on a shuffle machine? damn that's a lot of double negatives...... So basically, shouldn't I, a non casino employee, be able to get a csm.......for.....uh....my house......for entertainment purposes?

You couldn't afford one. Neither can most casinos- they are typically leased, not sold.
