Strange casino rules

#1
So, my Dad went to the local store today, and called me after, with what I consider a strange story.

(For those who were in the chat last night, no, I did not get to go to try my newly-acquired counting skills. Work called as I was preparing to go. At least I get more practice time in before throwing myself into the fray.)

Anyway, Dad said he was playing at 3rd base, and the dealer brought out the shuffle card. Hand played out, Dad stood up to stretch while the dealer reloaded from the ASM. Immediately behind him is an empty roulette wheel. Dad said on a whim he threw a $5 chip on the table, told the dealer? "Black", and won. Sat back down and proceeded to play BJ. Next shuffle, same thing. Third shuffle, he threw the chip, but the PC picked it up and handed it back, saying that playing two games at once is not allowed.

Why in the world would they care? As long as a person is up and about, I would think they'd be happy to have someone throw money at them.

Anyone got a clue why this rule would ever come about, much less be enforced?

Any other strange rules that anyone has come across?

This is not a strange rule, and in fact it's very much standard in almost every casino. And for very good reason. If they were to allow this, there would be MANY instances of people slowing down the games, which not only costs the casino money, but it also can be a very rude and irritating thing to do to many of the other gamblers at the tables.

Granted, your FATHERS' action probably didn't cause a problem, but it should be quite easy to see how it COULD get out of hand if everyone were doing it.

I can see that. Maybe another PC wouldn't have said anything, seeing that it wasn't affecting the "primary" game. Or maybe the eye in the sky didn't like it and called on it. Who knows. Just seemed strange to me.

one game

Something similar happend recently to me. I scanned the tables to play and only one was open with three others getting ready to open. I sat down at a 3cp table and bought in hoping the dealers would start opening the bj tables they were at, they weren't. The pit boss came over and I asked him to open a bj table up and he said sure but I have to stand up from this one to get the dealer to start opening? I stood up with the dealer procedding to deal me a hand the pit comes back and tells me I have to sit down? I look at the hand and bet it then the pit says I have to stand up which confuses me because if you stand you cancel your hand at 3cp. I was the only one at 3cp too at the time so I gave up, and colored up and moved. I guess the computer won't check you in at two tables.
