Wrong side of the Rainbow

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Sitting playing at $15 table, full table, hand after hand of craziness. Dealer has face card up I have hard 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 I hit, break, dealer turns over 3, 4, 5, 6 then busts. Dealer has 4, 5, 6 up I have 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 stand dealer hits to 17. I have double hand against 14, 15, 16, double, get garbage dealer makes 17. Split 6’s both hits make 16; dealer has 6 up turns over A for 17. Have 20, dealer has 20. Have 19 dealer has 19.

The strange part is rest of the table is winning hand after hand. Everyone was playing a decent basic strategy. Casino is reloading tray every hour. Lady sitting next to me buys in for $100, flat betting $20 and is up $1400. Rest of the table is up from $400 - $1000. After my third buy in the dealers looks at me an says “It looks like your on the wrong side of the rainbow.”

Yeah, but it's no fun when you're the only one losing at the table.

I'd like to say it only happens rarely, but that would be a lie. Hopefully the count's low so you're only betting min when it happens.

But there's no better thrill than being on the gold end of the rainbow when the count's high and you keep beating the dealer by one with max bets out :grin: Or when you have the only two 20's on the table and the dealer pulls 19 on a bust card.

I have, and I think apart from the losing, the thing that gets to me the most is that during those little periods of being on the "bad side of the rainbow" the TC is pretty good, and the people winning are betting table min, maybe x2, but thats it.......variance....hate it

It's really uncommon, though. Usually if the table is winning, it's because the dealer is breaking and pulling 17's, so if everyone else is winning, you should be too. I've seen it happen. I once played for awhile with one of the guys on the boards; he lost a couple k, I won a couple k on the same game. I was getting all the blackjacks...

That has happened to me a couple of times. High counts to boot. I call it the death seat.

Just imagine you're the guy I read about. He's on his couch watching tv-minding his own business. Gets hit by an airplane! S--t happens!:joker::confused::eek:
