6-7 hrs is the round trip travel time. The gas is comped by either a coupon or player points, always. As a recreational player I dont evaluate the time spent traveling as the professional who makes their living playing bj would.

Since I work many hours a week, sometimes even 6 days a week, my real job is much more valuable to me than BJ.

I look at my travel time this way:

It gives me some quality time alone with my wife, no tv, computer, phone, emails, etc...

and on those bright, clear, beautiful days... it lets me put the top down on the roadster, let my hair down, and exceed the speed limit by two times....

of course that's when my wife isn't watching the speedometer... and traffics light....

Sometimes it not only about the money....

Depending on the bike, the added maintenance costs just about equal the fuel savings. I sat down and calculated my cost per mile both in my car and on my bike, including gas, tires, regular maintenance, an allowance for major repairs, and depreciation. For me, the cost per mile came out almost identical, within just a few cents. An oil change on my bike costs over $60 and that's with me doing it myself. It also requires oil changes more frequently than my car. Ditto for the transmission and primary. My tires lasted around 20000 miles, which is a lot for a motorcycle, versus 50-60000 for my car. 10000 seems to be good for a back tire for a lot of riders, and even less for performance bikes with sticky tires. Also keep in mind that motorcycles require premium gas, which is usually about $0.30 per gallon more. Obviously the numbers will vary depending on the specific bike/car. I still prefer to travel by motorcycle whenever possible, but it isn't for the cost savings.

Sorry not a biker. I get about 15 mpg on my truck. If I can drive 75 to 80 mph I might flirt with 20 mpg. Gas is getting expensive.

Obviously it depends on what you ride and what you drive. I talked to a guy last month that bought a 250 Ninja for $2200, rode it for a couple of years, wrecked it, and sold it for $2500 That bike gets 50-60 mpg vs. my ~40 mpg and it shouldn't cost as much as mine for maintenance. But I bought a bike to jump on and ride thousands of miles at a time, and the 250 Ninja isn't it.

My car gets around 17 mpg, maybe 18 on the highway, and riding the bike at 38-40 mpg still comes out to about the same cost, unfortunately.
