Bellagio robber caught

From Money, gambling and the Bellagio:
Anthony Carleo, this was your life.

"Money isn't everything, but it's right up there next to oxygen."

That was a favorite quote listed on the Facebook page of Anthony Michael Carleo, 29, who was arrested Wednesday night by Las Vegas police in connection with the brazen Bellagio armed robbery that netted $1.5 million.

On his Facebook page, which was removed Thursday morning, Carleo wrote about moving to Las Vegas from Colorado last summer, high-stakes poker dreams and a fondness for the Bellagio.

"Never have I seen as many beautiful women in one place on a Sunday evening as I am humbly observing at Bellagio in Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada," he posted Nov. 28. "My neck is getting a great stretch and my zippers elasticity is being challenged! Viva Vegas!!"

Carleo had dreamed of medical school after college, according to his page.

"I am a Junior at UNLV and cannot wait to get to Med School to start a profession that I can be proud of," he wrote.

UNLV confirmed Carleo's enrollment.

The majority of Carleo's Facebook posts since arriving in Las Vegas dealt with his gambling exploits rather than his schooling.

In posts dated Nov. 22, Carleo detailed his participation in a live poker tournament with a cash prize of $127,000.

"Today will be a life changing day if all goes well and God answers my prayers," he wrote.

After losing late in the tournament, Carleo wrote about his frustrations.

"There was only 10 people (left) to hit the money," he wrote. "What a (expletive) crock of (expletive) (expletive) British (expletive) sucked out on me. This really sucks balls!!!!"

On Dec. 3, days before the Suncoast and Bellagio robberies, Carleo wrote about playing poker for thousands of dollars.

"There's nothing better than calling a $2500 all in for a $9,800 pot with 5,6 off suit in your hand," he wrote. "My 5,6 off suit brought Daddy 10 grand and a boner!"

CNN is reporting today that before he was caught, he had actually played many of the chips he stole.

Edited: They said $10 million, I swear - I'm just listening to it in the background. Not sure if I heard it wrong of if they're reporting it wrong, given that he didn't even steal that much.

I heard he had used some of the $5,000 chips to gamble with. Since they had not been discontinued as the $50,000 chips had, I suppose he thought they were safe. Either they have some kind of electronic marking or he obviously had no current source for the chips. Do ya think tables keep track of how many $5,000 chips they put out? Ya think?

chip count

Back a few years on the History channel. They ran that show Breaking Vegas, and there was the slot cheat on the show who could fabricate tokens for the slots from various casinos.

When he was finally caught and arrested the one thing that amazed me was how many casinos didn't even know what they had as far as inventory for ther tokens of various denominations. For me I was toally shocked by this and he wasn't making dollar coins.
