Golden Nugget Coming Back to Atlantic City
Houston, TX– Tilman J. Fertitta, Chairman, President, CEO and owner of Landry’s, Inc., parent company to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas and Laughlin, announced today that Landry’s has agreed to buy the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. According to Tilman J. Fertitta, “We are excited to bring the Golden Nugget back to Atlantic City. Our plan is to transform the Trump Marina into a luxurious and exciting hotel and casino with the highest level of service. All improvements are expected to be completed by the end of this year.” Naturally, the Golden Nugget will honor all existing Trump Marina customer points and rewards, not only in Atlantic City but also in the Las Vegas and Laughlin Golden Nuggets.

Pending regulatory approvals necessary to complete the purchase, Landry’s plans to immediately make exciting and dramatic changes to the property and transform the hotel-casino into a Golden Nugget resort destination in the upscale Marina District next to Borgata and Harrahs.

The new Golden Nugget, the only casino with a full service marina, will continue the transformation of Atlantic City into a premier resort destination and feature a number of Landry’s award-winning restaurant concepts including Chart House overlooking the huge marina, Red Sushi, Lillie’s Asian Cuisine and Noodle Bar and the nationally acclaimed Grotto Italian Ristorante and Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse.

The entire property will be updated with a fresh modern look to include new bars and lounges with live entertainment, stylish retail offerings and totally updated rooms and suites. The high energy Rush Lounge and a unique new After Hours will complement the new spa, poker room, race and keno room, improved showroom and the innovative H2O Pool and Lounge, which will introduce all season hot tubs and fire pits to deliver an exhilarating experience unlike anything else available in Atlantic City. The updated rooms and suites will provide luxurious accommodations for the Golden Nugget guests.

The Golden Nugget has strong brand recognition worldwide, and especially in Atlantic City where the Golden Nugget Atlantic City operated a casino-resort from 1980 to 1987.

Since Landry’s purchased the Golden Nugget Las Vegas, they have invested more than $300 million to renovate and expand the property, continuing it as one of the top hotel-casinos in Las Vegas. The centerpiece of the Golden Nugget Las Vegas is The Tank, a unique pool and shark aquarium which has been recognized as one of the top ten hotel pools in the world by Forbes Traveler and top ten most extreme pools by The Travel Channel. This stunning pool is open year-round for guests to enjoy. The most recent addition to the Las Vegas property is the Rush Tower which opened in late 2009 offering additional rooms and includes a Chart House restaurant featuring a 100,000-gallon tropical aquarium, and high-end retail shopping.

The Golden Nugget Las Vegas is home to hit poker shows, Poker After Dark on NBC and High Stakes Poker on GSN, and also hosted a variety of reality television shows on TLC, VH1, Spike TV, and most recently was the setting for an episode of CBS’s hit series CSI. Landry’s plans to bring this same type of energy and notoriety to the Atlantic City property.

Jimmy Buffet

I heard Jimmy Buffet was going to buy Trump Marina a few years ago and call it "Margaritaville" casino or something like that. I guess that fell through somehow. Heck, for 40 million we should all just chip in here and buy it because that's a bargain! Trump Marina has had some serious financial woes in recent years so there's a few angles to be worked to make it more alluring to potential customers and pump it up a bit is all, very cost-effective things even! The corporate mentality of "between enough hype and throw enough money at the project to make it work" might not be the entire answer with the competition increases in the gaming industry but it's all they know. It will be interesting to see what happens.

alwayssplitaces,

Surely you jest !

Bring their rules from Las Vegas?

I surely hope not.

The G. N. in L. V. has dreadful games.

I stopped in not long ago to watch a gaggle of drunken imbecilic twenty-somethings
betting green at an 8 decker with H17 and 6/5 BJ payoffs being dealt 75%

That is as bad a game as you will ever see.

I wonder who had it first - GN or Mand Bay?

I remember seeing a $25 double deck at the Nugget in Vegas with decent rules.

There is a worse blackjack game: the $1 game at the Sahara that has the same rules you mentioned, but blackjack pays EVEN MONEY.

the golden nugget in Vegas had some good games in the HL room,

I sure as hell hope they dont bring their BUFFET from vegas to atlantic city, that woudl be a shame for sure.

I had the chance to scope it out on its first day under ownership, but i didnt take up on it as i figured they wouldnt just rip up all the felts on the first day.

No idea about buffets, but I'm sure there will be a Landry's Seafood House and a Saltgrass Steak House and probably a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. And they'll either open second locations of Rainforest Cafe and Chart House or move the existing AC locations to the new Nugget. Landry's owns all of these and more.

I'll take this as good news. Its much better of course when casinos are operated "independently". Nice to see Trump go down from 3 to 2 in AC.

I was there a bit. Couldn't really play because they were ripping up the felts and everything else. Never seen so many suits and workers on a casino floor. They stripped out a big bank of machines and turned the area into a party bar with some tables adjacent to the lobby in two days.

I got the impression that no one around here will like the new felts . . .

GN Double Deck, h17 no double after split...pretty bad unless they let you spread 20-1 which isn't going to happen.

Thought Marina was all H17 garbage? Maybe changing it for the better?

Right, of course higher level games are better, but sounds good if they're ripping apart the garbage lower level games. Can't make that worse? Wouldn't be surprised if they somehow do :)
