I had a blast! Although I didn't get much time in at the BJ tables, I've been working on my craps skills and it also didn't help that the people I was with almost exclusively play craps

The BJ was ok I guess for the low limit tables, standard 6D DOA nRSA. There was some decent DD for $25 and $50 min.

90% of my play was at the craps table and I went on a few 5+ point rolls in one session (VERY long session, I did see the box man on the phone a few times while I was rolling ). Too bad I didn't lay down a chip or two on the fire bet

Also, we stayed in one casino and didn't really venture out (the people I was with didn't care about seeing what else was out there)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that a dealer continuously told me the entire time I stayed that I didn't know how to play BJ for doubling A8 vs 6 (not to mention I won the hand ).
Every time this particular dealer saw my face they said "You just got lucky and don't know how to play BJ"

You are in school so you should understand this. Do some hand calculations using the formulas in the books that generate indices as well as sidecount adjustments. A great understanding of the mechanics of the theory behind the counting is difficult to achieve simply by reading. Pay attention to what is happening as you do this. You will increase your understanding at least tenfold. Experience at the tables is equally important. I have seen people who made the grade make comments that indicate they were lucky to have survived. Robot following of the formula of counting will work if you are accurate but the added understanding of what is really going on will add to your potential bankroll growth. You can learn as much here as with a trainer. A trainer has a much easier job making you excellent if he doesn't have to fight the lack of nuts and bolts experience.
