Nothing Different In CT (XXXCharlesXXXTownXXX)

Two trips to CT, one up 10 $25 units, one down 11 $50 units. Both trips played a long time, last night 10 hours. The first trip, pen was great at times, but still the same bad rules. Second trip, pen was weak and horrible at times. Had to call a dealer down on cutting more than two decks. He claimed he was supposed to cut on the other side of the notch, not on the notch and definitely not behind the notch. I left. Fortunately I won $500 at Baccarat (before losing at BJ). Three times I was down to $2,000 or more including what was bet on the table, and three times recovered. Once I was up over $1,000. I'd sure like to reverse these stats and find myself up more than down. Increasing my max bet ($250 at $25 and $500 at $50) would not help; I'd only have been down more the times I was down.

I did hit the lucky ladies for 19 to 1 with a pair of tens of hearts for a $25 wager. With a plus count well above plus 10 I blew a good $300 on LL with $25 down without hitting a pair of tens even. That was a rough shoe.

CT is not for the weak of heart, in fact, I doubt I'd ever go there except for its proximity to my home. The only thing I can say is that I am ahead since going there, and that is totally attributable to finding dealers giving good pen. Last night that was next to impossible due to the crush of people at all the tables, even the $50 tables. Don't go on the weekends-- it really sucks big time.

"Bad rules?" I thought the rules at both FW and MS were considered pretty good... though I'll certainly defer to your expertise.

Was the LLadies at MS? I've seen Super 7s and Match the dealer at FW.

Sorry, but we have a a misunderstanding. By CT I did not mean to denote Connecticut casinos. CT is a commonly used abbrev. for XXXCharlesXXXTownXXX, where the rules are $25 8deck H17 SP3 SA2 ds. Unless you get excellent pen, these games are real losers from a counting perspective, although some other strategies may apply. Still, they are better then many games in Las Vegas, sad, but true. I did see a few $15 games, but the crowds were so dense that after I gave up my seat at a $25 table, the only seat I was able to get later was a $50 seat-- can you believe it, and with 38 blackjack tables in operation?

PS-- Thanks. I edited my OP.

What a POS game that is. I wouldn't play that thing unless they were cutting a bit less than a deck off (although I suppose the LL helps a bit).

CT makes most people think "Connecticut", and especially being in the Eastern US forum...

So it may be better to just call it Charles Town!
Or it may be better to just call it Mohegan Sun or Foxwood or MS or FW. There is no casino called Connecticut. There's a reason I call it CT or XXXCharlesXXXTownXXX, although it seems not to have dawned on you.

It's also a commonly used abbreviation for the *state* of Connecticut. LMAO. You really think more people would think of Charles Town than Connecticut when they see CT?

When used as the name of a casino, CT can only stand for one place... Chip's Tacoma... er... I mean, xxxCharlesxxxTownxxx. I myself mistook CT for Connecticut last year when posters first began using it. The reason for all the xxx's is that I don't want to make it easy for casino people to search for all posts to do with their particular casino. This issue was discussed at some length last year and I believe it has merit.

I did catch the LL suited match for 19 to 1 with max bet out ($25). The pen is variable according to dealer. And yes I have gotten less than a deck pen from a certain dealer who I did not see last trip.

There is a tradition of derogatory nicknames for casinos. Circle Jerkus, LV Hellton, Cockswoods, etc. That might do the job.

You're getting too paranoid in your feisty years, Aslan. It's probably due to the fact that you live so close to "The Company" at Langley. Chill out Bro! The only one of us that has to feel that paranoid is Zg and he's got good reason. He won't even get within a 100 mi. of Quantico.:eek:

Or Churl's Town. More than a few churls frequent the place and the etymology remains intact.
Same word! Ceorl is pronounced "churl." It's a feudal term that meant a member of the peasant class who just happened to own some land, and it was kind of disparaging, like the way old-money types feel about lottery winners who are their financial peers but have nothing else in common with them.

The upper classes considered it disparaging, but the lower classes considered it an honor to be a ceorl because that meant you were a free man, and the term caught on as a given name, which is now Carl, Charles and all its variants.
