They're not even allowed to interfere with the counter's comps. (They ARE allowed to give 50% pen, however) There are several counters who are regulars at those casinos, are well known to all the chefs, and they openly BRAG about their skills to the chefs, dealers, security; and anyone ELSE who cares to listen.Because of the fact that they're absolved of all responsibility concerning counters, most of the chefs actually treat the counters with a high degree of RESPECT!
I don't know when you're going, but everytime I've been there and the topic of counting has come up the dealers start making fun of it and the chef(s) roll their eyes. There's actually one dealer who counts out loud for everyone, or if he isn't doing it out loud he'll tell you if you're hesitating "the count is X, you should ...". Don't get me wrong, usually they're really cool, it's just everytime I've heard anything about counting from them it's always lumping it in with voodoo.
