ASMs acting up

Anyone notice ASMs acting up recently here in NE? Supposedly humidity affects them.

Half the ASMs were acting up at a place where they normally run smoothly.

I saw one eating cards in the poker room the other day. Damn thing would start shaking like crazy, and then 20 seconds later spit out one eaten-up card. Did this 3 or 4 times.

The rate of the A S M s jamming is greatly minimized by placing a specially made small rectangular weight made to fit on top of the stack of cards.

My (most) regular store started using them and the change has been impressive.

Agreed, the plastic thing improves their performance, and the places I play have them for a while.

Seemed improved today in store, but in another store, for a couple days almost all the ASMs were offline this week. Asked about it and dealer was honest and said not sure.

In a another incident a few weeks back, the PC told me they were running low on cards, which is in all likelihood complete BS, but good for a laugh.

Humidity has probably been higher then normal in NE, with on again off again rain. Plus in conjunction temperature around room temp (so air conditioning or heat does not get turned on) might account for it.

Yeah they can't be cheap. Plus in conjunction with lease (if its not part of the deal), and the time occupied by PC of having to deal with them, not sure if casinos actually make more money ASMs or CSMs.

I'm about 95% sure they lose money with the CSMs.

asms<> profit

I really don't think the joints do any type of data gathering. I do know if a place gets enough pressure to do away with csms they do. The joint I visit had them once got rid of them and brought them back only to rid themselves of them again. People need to use the restrooms and it interupts the game when players are constantly leaving and coming back because the asms do cut the time down between shoes. That is dependant that they are working properlly which they do jam quite frequently. I kinda don't mind them because I have gotten use to them. I prefer hand shuffled but I don't see the attitude of the joints changing about them.
