Default I think I was a little to obvious...

A couple of day ago I made my first stab at counting at my local casino. I went during the day when it wasnt to busy. Most tables were half full, give or take.

I walk in there, sit at a table with 2 other people and start to backcount. Dealer asks me "are you guna play?" I say, "not yet, I like to bet near the end of the shoe because I find I have better luck" So I backcount the first shoe and only place bets when the count is favorable, small bets. During the second shoe, when the count was at 16 after like 8 rounds, a supervisor walks over and starts up a conversation with me, she wouldnt shut up, I completly lost the count. She finally leaves right as the shoe ended. Next shoe I do the same thing. About 3/4 of the way through when the count was reaching the key, she comes back, watches me then starts to talk agein, just about bull **** like basic stratagy and house edge. After my second encounter I decide to take a break.

An hour later, after a shift change, I come back and do the same thing. This time another supervisor just stands behind the table Im playing at and watches for like 10 mins, then she disapears. I didnt see her agein. By this time I had to leave, work was appraoching.

I ended up $10 dollars down on the day (I was up 90) mostly because I seem to lose the count during play when I have to add up my card total. Anyways, ill continue to practice, and as of now, I wont let my little enconter with the superviser phase me.

Jeff.

After 30+ hours of play you won't add your hand total, you'll just KNOW it. zg

I used to pause a bit on my hand to finish counting the cards. If you pause for a while the dealer will just tell you what you have to move the game along. It always helps to have a dealer that tells you what you have. But Jeff, it will become really easy pretty soon.

Jeff:

I can not explain how it is done but many experienced counters will have a conversation with the pit, dealer or other players, while getting their drink from the waitress and appear to barely even look at other peoples cards, and never lose the count. I know this is my case, especially in a shoe game. A quick glance at a table full of cards and the count is adjusted in my head. I noticed this after playing heavily for a few months many years ago and then had someone test me at home. Once confident in this ability I never would look like someone watching all the cards to any pit or eye.
