Bugs in private chat and chatroom

chats suddenly stop working and I have to close and log back in to continue the chat. anyone else have this problem?

It happened to me once. I think the website has a timeout "feature" that logs you out if there is no activity for a certain amount of time. If you happen to be chatting and not browsing at the same time, you get logged out. At least that is what my guess is.

Maybe Ken can remove the timeout feature.

No. we were talking the whole time. just in the middle of writing out a sentence, it will stop working. I won't be able to anymore send sentences, but the other user still can. then logging out and back in gets it to normal again.

I don't think that the site considers chatting to be "activity" so if you are only chatting then it might log you off automatically and crash any chats you were having.

Oops! didn't read your response correctly. OK so yea. if someone can fix that inactivity timeout issue, that'd be great. thanks.

This has happened to me several times, and I agree that removing or extending the session timeout would remedy the issue.

People not appearing on the list of chatters is the biggest problem IMO. Basically, the chatroom is super buggy all around. Not as useful as the old one.

When this has happened to me (the timeout), refreshing the page or visiting a new page on the message board makes it start working again.

This, and many other issues are on my list to try to address soon.

another comment I have regarding the chatroom - the windows for both private and public chats are very small - and it seems they can't be increased in size. On the old chatrooms I could maximse the windows to the entire page (and this was great for taking screenshots of chat transcripts).
