An Englishman in New York . . .

Hi all,

not the Sting single, but a wary Brit coming to the states for the first time looking for a little action.

I am learning advanced blackjack, but as you can guess, due to our archaic and anally retentive laws, getting any good blackjack in the UK is next to impossible, so I am heading to Atlantic City at the end of August to sample the real thing.

I would be grateful if anyone could give me some pointers on the following :-

1. Saw the post about the casinos in Atlantic City, being closed, any update on that ?

2. Anyone want to show a grateful traveller around for a night/day, share info and stories ?

3. Any good info about partying, blackjack (including tournaments) and poker in Atlantic City ? (obviously new to the site, and WILL read all available info, but would like personal insights)

Many thanks

Michael (Cornwall, UK)

Casinos are open.,I'm not aware of any tourmaments being held in August.Almost all BJ in AC is 6/8 decks dealt face-up from shoes. You can find $10 tables during the week, but its very crowded and expensive on weekends.

Check out the Borgata's new poker room, it's HUGE!! They throw daily tournaments and right now are in the middle of their Summer Open. It has every type of game imaginable. Also you have the Taj Mahal and Tropicana (my favorite) have very good rooms. Taj has a good selection of games and if you are a high stakes player it's another good place to be.

Almost every Casino has a poker room, but the three mentioned above are the best and all throw daily tournaments. Check out their websites. As for BJ, I agree w/ Shadroch opinion. You might be able to find a $10table game at the Sands, Merv Griggins....can't think of any more off the top of my head. Hope this helps..
