Taking the even money payout?

I was on Carnival Cruise Lines this weekend and saw something interesting on board. When the player got a BJ, the dealer offered them the option to take an even money payout if his/hers upcard was an A, as oppose to taking a possible push.

Is this option advantageous for the player in any situation?

It's exactly the same as taking insurance. And, it's exactly as bad a bet unless you know that more than one-third of the remaining cards are tens.
