Default Casinos north of Vegas

We'll be "out there" in a month or so and are thinking about taking time to hit some of the casinos north of Fremont....Silver Nugget, Opera House....places close by but off the Strip and Downtown.

I'm interested to find if there are any I should definitely check out. Or, would it be a waste of time?

One place I can tell you to avoid is the Wildfire.Went there for the free burger in the ACG. Possibly the worse meal I've ever had, compounded by terrible service.Arizona Charlies has a great promo right now.Check out the LVA for details,I don't know when it ends.

Don't bother with the Silver Nugget, it's a dump. They had a terrible game (two of them actually) when I was there last year and I'm sure it hasn't improved.

If you're heading up north you might check out Texas Station and Fiesta. The Texas Station has a nice little Martini bar in the back and lots of tables. I've never been to the Fiesta but it is worth a look since it is so close.

As Shadroch said, check out the promo at AZ Charlie's (for the first day at least) and maybe drive on to SunCoast/Rampart if you're in the area. The SunCoast is incredibly vulnerable in many ways (but you didn't hear it from me! ).

I was really impressed with Rampart. I didn't play BJ there, but its a much nicer casino than I expected.Got a nice T-shirt just for signing up for a players card, played $5 3card poker for about two hours, and was comped to a decent meal.I'll go there on my next visit as ACG and LVA both have $10 matchplays, and its on the way to Red Rock Canyon, more or less.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Cannery. I've never been there, but it supposedly has great pen. on DD games.
