Best Blackjack rules in Vegas

I read recently that Monte Carlo changed from dealers stand on S17 to hitting S17. I guess it's part of the fallout from the MGM buyout. Anyway, who has the best rules in Vegas? Downtown or on the strip.

I would say downtown. Because they have to compete with the strip and I win more downtown than on the strip. I'm gonna fly to Vegas this upcoming weekend and I'll stay at the LV Hilton. I wanna check their casino and then downtown again...

Personally, I prefer Downtown (Fremont St). It's not just for the blackjack down there. I like the environment...it more suites my own personality <LOL> But, based on my BR, the lower table minimums day in and day out, and consistantly better table rules, I can get more mileage out of my BR.

Every single casino has Single Deck 6:5. Head Up just 3 games then reshuffling (seen and just quick played). 8 Deck Shoes, 6 Deck Shoes with 45 to 50 % penetration. Even in downtown BJ sucks more and more! Several casinos in downtown have single deck 3:2 but I forgot the name

IMHO it is not really woth anymore to travel to Vegas just to gamble. I will gamble more here in San Diego County and go more for relaxation and enjoying the shows to Vegas...

4-Queens has 3:2 single deck $5 minimum. They do pen pretty thin though. I've compromised and gone to Double Deck. Most of the casinos down there have pretty good DD games. One, at least, stands on 17's and offers all the standard rules (DOA, DAS, RSA...the pen is around 60 to 70%)

questions for you dd players.

1. what is an acceptable pen level for dd? (70% + etc....)

2. I hear where some casinos are using the "fake dd", where they deal two decks in the hand that were actually cut from a 6 deck shoe. how do you know if you are getting the real deal? and if they are doing this shouldn't it be illegal?

I think I saw somewhere that 70% is good, 65% acceptable. Even though I don't count, I'd rather get all the cards in play that I can on DD.

Where I play, cards are changed every 2 hours. They are spread, checked and washed in front of the players at the table. Never any doubt when this procedure is employed by the Casino.

I've played at casinos where they hand shuffle which I strongly prefer.

However, I've also played at casinos using Shuffle Master which employs two separate double deck stacks. In these cases, the backs are different colors. They are also spread, checked, washed and then placed in the shuffling machine. They are NOT continuous shuffle.

I've never seen, nor would I play on one of the so-called "fake DD" tables.
