Default the day the music died

article 2 years old, but great reading.
Quote:
Sam Butera contemplated the fact that the Golden Nugget is now owned by two guys in their 30s with an interest in the old Vegas.

"They don't know when the old Vegas started," the 76-year-old lounge legend says, a little dismissively. But then he flashes his famous ear-to-ear grin to add: "And it really didn't start until we got here. That's the God's truth. As God is my judge."
This guy changed the whole big band flavor, and revived the career of Louis Prima.
a few years later, the rat pack was born. reviving the careers of Frank Sinatra, recently displaced Dean Martin, mostly unknown Sammy Davis jr. They did it with their "wild show". Hey it worked for Prima, why not them?

I've enjoyed SB and the Witnesses in the lounges of many clubs over the years. zg
