Question for Tina Sparx, or any other Brit
To make "$" I just go Shift + 4. In other words, "$" is on my keyboard. I can make "£" by doing Alt + 0163. Is "£" on your keyboard? I've always been curious about that.

On mine it's...
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map
Click on the £, and it tells what keystrokes to use.
