Rosie O'Donnell Says Radical Christianity Equal To Radical Islam
Opinion

The ever-opinionated loud mouth Rosie O'Donnell lived up to her penchant for idiotic verbal hysteria to mark her advent as the new quasi-host of Barbara Walters' brain-trust "The View" (ABC) by saying radical Christianity was equal to radical Islam. And, perhaps more frightening was the reasonable smattering of applause she received for such an outrageous statement, though it appeared fellow View panelists were aghast and left virtually speechless.
O'Donnell lives in a strange, tormented little world of twisted perceptions and hypocrisy (ie, running rough shot over gun owners and gun rights activists while taking full advantage of having several armed bodyguards for herself and her children), an ivory tower constructed of hyper-liberalism and, by her own admission in interviews such as with Bill O'Reilly, a certain level of learning disability. By comparing radical Christianity to radical Islam, O'Donnell demonstrated her impaired, afflicted ability to make proper judgments (another open admission of hers) and in doing so rallied equally brain-damaged audience members to hoot and hoorah the absolutely asinine.
I cannot remember the last time Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Falwell or one of their henchmen kidnapped and decapitated an unbeliever or homosexual for being 'infidels' to the Christian faith, or for political differences, for that matter. Apparently in Rosie's weird little corner of the universe, these kind of atrocities happen all the time, so frequently that ultra-conservative Christianity is simply just like radical Islam.
If O'Donnell wanted to kick-start her debut on "The View," she certainly picked the perfect moronic thing to say. If there was any legitimate genius behind those coal-black cartoon button eyes of hers one might suspect a brilliant maneuver for boosting ratings, but clearly we're dealing with a bonafide hollyweird dim bulb spouting off and demonstrating her complete ignorance and incapacity to discern any measure of right or wrong. Her comparison will not be quickly forgotten, but far more disturbing is the fact that many, perhaps millions, share her demented view as they absord their knowledge of the world from the idiot box.

I do understand where you are coming from when you speak of Rosie O'Donald but in all honesty, as a previous youth pastor over 25 years, (In the Southern Baptist as well as Assembly of God) I've found that traditional Christianity in the west (in my opinion) is a bit tainted or misguided at best.
Being in the ministry and seeing what ugliness comes from brothers and sister in the Lord is in my opinion, a lot like Islam. Remember... inquisitions, witch hunts, Oklahoma City Bombing, Innocent people have died because of religious beliefs. Even our Commander and Chief said God told him to go to Iraq.
I do know that the bible does not differentiate between one sin or another (except blasphemy.)
Jesus said even thoughts are just as bad as the deed. I have heard, and even said some of these things in the past, hateful things that are just wrong and not what Jesus modeled for us to be like. When are we as a people going to finally wake up and realize that we are no better than anyone else? We are not to convert people to our way of thinking, that's controlling, not loving (kinda like Nazi Germany...propaganda), we are to love.
Jesus said "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." Not me, HE.
Yelling and screaming about people and saying they are brain-damaged because they don't think the same as you is totally NOT what he had in mind (at least, I don't think so.) Also to pick apart her physical attributes... that too is just not right either... Had I not given my heart to Christ over 40 years ago, I would tell all of you that you were hypocrites, a den of vipers, "new testament Pharrasies."
My heart is so weary of people blasting away at others for an opposing opinion?
We say "God bless America," I question WHY? People that are suppose to be full of the Love of Christ are the loudest protesters to our freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. God forbid that Christ come today. We are here for such a short time and our attitudes are not that of unconditional love but of a theocracy controlling (or wanting to control) others for something so small as a comment.
From my point of view, I am thankful for diversity! It keeps a balance in this world. Understand please, I am not trying to beat you over the head, I just want to help others to see that our very thoughts and words are as destructive as a deed.
Praying for Peace IN all of us,

Sonya -- I have to agree with you on a few points -- Of course, Christiandom HAS seen periods of incredible wickedness to rival the Taliban and Al-Queda, but Rosie is speaking of fundamentalist Christians in our present time as being equally dangerous, equally evil as radical Islam. Nothing could be further from the truth. The political impact of such a statement, if truly believed by many people (and the applause heard certainly says something about her ability to influence people) is disturbing. It is pitifully warped. Yes, fundamentalist Christians can be just as stubbornly misguided, but they aren't running around beheading people. Neither do they bury their daughters waist deep in the sand and stone them to death for 'sins.'
I didn't 'pick apart her physical attributes' at all -- unless describing her cartoonish eyes is somehow picking her apart (I don't see that, it's just a descriptive... it's how I see her). Rosie herself has publically stated that she has a problem that effects her ability to make proper judgments. I merely took the opportunity to point out how outrageous it is for her to be shoveled into this soap-box position on "The View" in light of such an admission.
I have to disagree with your watered down version of the Gospel where one statement by Christ eliminates our participation and work in the Great Commission. We DO have work to do for Christ on this earth, and preaching the Gospel is one very large, very important part of that. Quite often that means calling a spade and spade and getting in someones face about sin -- and it's never pretty or pleasant; but Christ did it, He commissioned His Apostles to do it and called all believers to do likewise. How is Christ lifted up? The cross was raised 2000 years ago, it has required, since then, the preaching of the Gospel to "draw" all men unto Himself -- that is how he desired it to be accomplished.
