Need help with betting and bankroll strategies

#1
Hi, I'm quite new to this so can anyone explain to me the following terms:
bet ramp
bet spread

Also, how big of a bankroll should I have if the minimum bet is 1 unit, and I would like a ROR of less than 5%? What should my max bet be?

Your bet spread is the size of your max bet relative to your minimum bet. For example, spreading $10-$100 would be a 1-10 spread and $5-$60 would be 1-12.

The bet ramp is the exact count at which you vary your bets. It might look something like this:

<+2 Bet 1 unit
+2 Bet 2 unit
+3 Bet 4 unit
+4 Bet 6 unit
>+4 Bet 12 unit

Your bet sizes will depend on the rules of the game you are playing, your bet ramp and your playing style. As a general rule your max bet should be no more than 1% of your bankroll. For a $5,000 bankroll you max bet should be around $50. Once you determine your bet ramp you can adjust your unit size to maintain a reasonable ROR. If you use the bet ramp above but find that a $10-$120 spread is too risky for your bankroll then you can reduce it to $5-$60 or adjust your playing/betting strategy (maybe use a safer backcounting strategy).
