Card counting in Missouri casinos

I just made my first trip to Missouri where I played at several casinos in the Kansas City area. My first hour there, I was sitting at a table with a mother and daughter, when the daughter asked the dealer to slow down as her mother was just learning to count cards. I thought I heard wrong, but later my wife, who was also at the table, said she heard the same thing.

Later I was talking with a dealer while he shuffled, and he told me that Missouri casinos were not allowed to banish card counters. I was shocked, but spent all weekend playing and counting without my usual attempts to hide the fact I was counting, and nobody paid any attention to me!

Does anyone else know about this Missouri law?

I have never played in Missouri; and don't know anything about the law. However, Atlantic City has the same rule. They can't refuse your play on the basis of you counting. However, they do take other counter-measures in an attempt to thwart counters, including cutting shoes in half and restricting suspected counters to flat betting. Do you know if the KC casinos do anything at all when they suspect someone of counting? How is the penetration? WHat kind of bet spread were you able to use?

I play a LOT in the KC casinos. But I usually play upstairs at the cheap tables at AmeriStar. I've never heard anything one way or another about counting at that casino. They just don't seem to be on edge about it. Most of the dealers, when you do mention it, just say that it is impossible to count effectively against a 6-deck shoe <LOL>. Besides, if you really watched much of the play at those tables, you would know why they aren't too concerned about anyone counting cards on them! Most of the players on those tables don't know the difference between a hard-16 and a soft-17 much less how to play the hands!

As for the Missouri law....I do not know. I do know that they are really hard on the dealers. They get written up after making only one mistake. I've actually heard from a pit boss that one of their dealers got written up for making a mistake of $3 and not catching it.

After loosing $500 in an hour I think it is, you have to wait until the top of the next "even" hour before buying in again. You cannot give chips to anyone to keep them in the game. I know they are much more concerned about someone under-age gambling than most of the casinos in other locations so Missouri enforcement must really be strong in the gamimg houses there.

It was sort of funny last weekend....they were hand shuffling all games there even though they had Shuffle Master shufflers on just about all the tables. The reason....they only had cards with ONE color! They had run out of the other color <LOL>. The dealers were really pissed at this!
