Red face Making a second income

I am brand new to the whole online casino thing and at the moment I am just playing the odd game here and there for "flutter value" only. I was having a small "debate" with my partner as to whether people could actually use on line blackjack as a tool to supplement their income. I say "yes" ...but he is of the firm opinion that "there is a sucker born every minute". Have any of you been consistantly lucky to the extent that you are bringing in what can be considered a "second wage"?
If so do you have any tips to share with the newbie?

Default No

OK I just want to save you lots of money. Read Carefully.

DO NOT even think that you can generate second income playing blackjack in an online casino. Mission Impossible!

Reasons:

1) 95% percent of internet casinos shuffle cards after every round of play. That means that you can not count cards. So casino always has a built in edge of about 0.4% on average over players. This means that you will lose 0.4% of all of the money that you wager over period of time.

MONEY THAT YOU WAGER OVER PERIOD OF TIME is your betting action this doesn't mean that you will lose 0.4% of $200 which would be $.8, but means that you will lose 0.4% of every wager that you make. These are average values.

As you can see edge has accumulative effect and your $200 will be gone in no time.

Lets say you play with $200 dollars.

Let's assume that you are playing 4 deck game ,dealer stands on soft 17, double after split is allowed , double any two, In this game house edge is about 0.38%

Now let's say you play about 180 hands per hour and your average bet is $3 by the end of that hour math says that you should lose $2.05/hour
If you bet $10 on each hand playing 180 hand per hour you will lose on average 6.84/hour. This is rule of universe and you can't beat it.

These values are calculated on average (and they are law).

Now do not think that every time you play you will lose exact amount as stated above. If you lose you wil probably lose lot more. One hour is still short term.

You can win in that one hour, you can win $1000 for example (1:10 000)
but you do not have edge and it is all about having or not having edge. Keep playing after that win and after about a month depending how long you play you will lose every single dime because edge will get you.

Card Counters make their money the same way having an edge.

As I already told you can not count cards in online casino.

2) But But what if I double my bet every time I lose .....
.....I always make money.
To cut the long story short. Betting Strategies do not work They are disastrous specially Martingale (doubling your bet after loss). Edge Edge Edge will kill you, unless you have it.

This doesn't mean that you shouldn't play in an online casino.

GOOD LUCK

Play for fun I do not think that Online Blackjack can generate second income.

Default those 5 % of casinos`

that don't shuffle after each round are impossible to beat because they deal way to few cards and power of card counting is 00000000.
You can beat that game with hughe spread something like 1-50, only to make $1 per hour (on average).

I think that the way most successful on-line blackjack players come out ahead is by taking advantage of descent games at casinos that offer signup bonuses. It's the bonus that makes it worthwhile to attack. Ken can give a lot better information on this endevor than can I.

Default Thanks Guys

Thanks for the honesty. Looks like I owe my partner an apology...sigh.

Will only play for fun and wait till I am a bit more of an expert before I "brave" the tables in real casino's.

Till then

Have Fun

Default bonuses make the money

Yes you definately can make money playing blackjack at online casinos, my friends bare witness to that, however like already mentioned it is through bonus money not by systems or counting cards. The bonus money actually turns the advantage in your favour, as long as you make small bets and only play at casinos that allow you to play blackjack with the bonus money. Unfortunately the casinos that allow you to do this are becoming rarer and rarer, but to date i have made $8000 doing so, and my friend has made over $15000. We had a very nice holiday with the money.

Further proof that you can make money at online casinos is the fact that i have been blacklisted from many casinos, I can only assume that this is because they see my accounts as a "losing account" ie i am winning. For a list of casinos that allow you to play blackjack with the bonus money visit

good luck

And I thought I was doing well, up $1,800. Then again, I haven't yet played for any sticky bonuses.

I've played at a bunch of online casinos as well but not one featuring a sticky bonus yet, though I do have an idea of how to take advantage of them. Say you bought in with $100 and got $300 in a sticky bonus. The idea is to go all in your first hand or some large portion of your bankroll. If you win that hand then play until you satisfy your WR with small bets and then withdraw the money. Of course if they review your play some casinos might make it tough for you to withdraw your money...
