Casino Surrender????

Has anyone has experience with the new "casino surrender" option?

I saw it a the Stardust - if the player has two tens and the dealer has a ten showing, but no BJ, the player has the option of either playing the had (and possible getting a push) or having the casino "surrender" and the player wins 50% of their bet.

Is this a side bet that's as bad as the Bonus bet in Let It Ride or is it as good as the Odds bet in Craps?

I saw a husband and wife at the Stardust that was really using it to their advantage - I'd guess that they came out a liitle ahead vs. the push.

I haven't played it; but I have read about it a little. I would think it would be a sucker bet unless the count, including the three tens that are being removed on that hand, is pretty high.

I also thought it may be a sucker bet... until I saw those folks winning. They seemed to be using BS and their bets varied from 1 to 10 units (I'd guess), so they may have been counting. I didn't have a lot of time to hang out and watch.

I seem to have read that it's 56% or 57% in favor of the casino, also that if you're counting you'd need a +10 or so to make it work.

Maybe it could be worked into cover somehow?

You might could use it as cover; but it wouldn't be any better than a lot of other money-losing cover tactics. I think the only way it would be a wise bet would be in a very negative count. That is just a hand that you're going to win so many times and lose so few that I can't see the value of winning only half there.
