Where To Sit

I've read how pissed other players get if you either mishandle the situation, or if you handle it correctly for you, but it's bad for them.

I've read where it's best to sit at third base because it gives you time to think, but I've also read where you really need to have a lot of experience to sit at 3rd because your play influences the dealers next cards.

Where's the best place for beginners to sit? Where's the best place to sit so as to not draw attention, and the wrath of others?

Don't worry what other people think. There is no seat that requires experience. If you are playing single deck and are short you want to sit at first base to see the hole card. If you can't see the hole card then for single deck you want to sit at 3rd base at a full table. Just using indexes with Zen yeilds a 1.3% advantage. In shoe games playing decisions don't matter as much so 3rd base doesn't matter as much and seeing the hole card is way harder. But if you have a partner you want to sit at 3rd and 1st at the same time to try to catch an uncovered last card in the shoe when they offer it to be cut.

Sit where you are most comfortable.For me,its first base,as it allows me to spread out a bit and you can occasionly take advantage of certain dealers techniques.
The third baseman's play has no more and no less influence on the dealers next card than any other player,in the long run.

How you play at 3rd base does not affect the cards in any way, but you're right that you will feel superstitious players' rath if you are last to act. If you are uncomfortable taking criticism on how you play then dont sit at third base. Sit one or 2 seats off. Then you'll still have the extra time to think, but you won't have to take any crap from other players at the table.

I personally dont care what the other players say, but if you do just avoid that situation and dont sit at third...

Other players complain no matter where you sit. I find more complaints when sitting before their draw, rather than after. I've even offered to switch seats with the occasional complainer, but they always decline.

True that you will get complaints at any seat, but when you play properly you will catch a lot more grief at third base... Let's say you hit your 12 vs that 6 in a negative count at third and you "cause" the dealer to hit to 21. You'll certainly hear about it from the table...

There are times when it may make a very slight difference, really negliable.

The only time that it of great importance is if you know the dealers hole card and also know the exact order of the cards not dealt yet. If you can figure these minor things out then third base is where you want to sit, but if you do not have this minor information, and who does, it makes no real difference.

Perhaps 15 years ago at a Vegas casino there was an extremely sloppy dealer who not only revealed his hole card but often let the top card (pitch game) flash slightly while in his hand. Sitting at first base I used this information and with a partner sitting at third base I would signal my partner that information. In this case the dealer could only be read by first and perhaps second base, so I had the right seat, third base only gained because we were partners.

If your question has to do with which seat will avoid the wrath of ignorant and frustrated blackjack players the answer is very easy. The seat at the bar, the seat in the restaurant, the seat by a video machine, a seat in your home and every seat in the world except the seat at the blackjack table.
