Lost my temper with a pit boss
I'm still in venue so I don't want to say where this happened, but I finally lost it with a dishonest pit boss.
There was an old woman chunking away, playing very poorly and cleared over $5K from a table. The pit didn't seem to like it very much. It was a $1000 max bet and occasionally her bets would go over that amount, but the dealer took the action and dealt.
After winning a big hand, a few hands later the pit boss comes over to her and tells her "This is a $1000 max table. You bet a hand for $1X00 before and you won so you are going to have to give us back $X00."
She was getting ready to push X chips to the dealer and I yelled "Wait a minute. The dealer is supposed to check the bets before dealing out the hand. You can't wait to see if someone is going to win or lose before you void a bet."
"You see that sign? This is a $1000 limit table." (This was not a law or a casino rule; there were higher max tables, actually right in the same pit.)
So I answer "So what if she lost the hand? Would you go find her later and say 'Maam here's your $X00 back, your bet was over the limit.' He said "Sure we do that too."
I yelled "You're a lying sack of ****!" because I had seen her lose >$1K hands when he was watching and he did nothing. Then I stormed away from his pit (in a slightly negative count of course!) He was really pissed at me, but he let her keep the money.
That was my good deed for the trip and it must have improved my karma, because later on I had a hand interaction play with another ploppy that netted for me the same amount I rescued for her. Took them for a couple of K then I blew town.

I loooove this story! It makes you wonder if counters are doing the world some small but great justice. The irony is that counters pocket their wins. I won't reflect on the situation because I'm not in a philosophical mood at the moment. Again, great story.
SF: "(in a slightly negative count of course)".....HA!

While you might have performed an act of karma, why get involved in a situation you had nothing to do with. You made an enemy of a pitboss for no reason.

No reason? Do you have no emotion? I'll bet if you were there you'd see the thousand injustices that AM witnessed. Math is math, and odds are odds, and science is science. Knowing that comes with the gambling territory. But in the end we're still just people that can lose our tempers when a situation like this arises.

Kudos my brother. Way to stick it to them trying to cheat when they already had the advantage. Further, I'm pretty sure that kind of **** won't happen there for a while.

This is by far one of the most ridiculous stories I have ever heard. Why do you care unless it is happening to you or one of your teammates? This wench is not paying you off to help her. I am assuming that you no longer believe in the mathematics of the games since you decided that you can now win based on your new ‘karma count’. What a joke.

Why? Because if I didn't stand against cheating little old ladies, I wouldn't feel like much of a man afterwards. And if you don't feel like much of a man, you can't enjoy your winnings. Is that a good enough reason?
