Hole Card

In The Blackjack Zone by Eliot Jacobson, he talks about a friend he once knew who claimed that when he was high on LSD that he could read the value of the cards before they were delt because they were "invisible and he could see right through to the other side of the card." He then goes on to say that you should never take illegal drugs and that playing while intoxicated usually leads to basic strategy errors.

Has anyone tried this? Sounds too good to be true. But I have heard from other sources that you can experience super powers on LSD. Any truth to this?

I'd say in the very-best-case scenario, the friend was a counter, maintained the count extra-clearly while tripping, and got lucky in prediciting the hole card (if indeed his claim is true).

I would never want to test this because once you drop the acid, your desire to make a financial profit leaves. Then you understand that there are more important things to think about now. :)

This sounds like a zen zone topic as well. Zengrifter seems to be the psychedelic expert so he might have something to say about this.

Oh come on guys don't even think about it! Drugs don't make you able to do things, they just make you think you can do things. Look at all the people who died because they believed they could fly or something when on LSD. Same for being able to see through the cards.

Once, while tripping on mushrooms,I was challenged to thread a needle.
My first several attempts were well off,but when I concentrated hard enough, the opening of the needle was large enough that not only did I insert the thread thru it,I managed to get my entire wrist thru it.
Can't imagine sitting still long enough to play cards while tripping.

Just because you think you can see things when your tripping doesn't mean that those things are real. That's the whole point! :)

Maybe so, but in the book Eliot's friend said, and I quote, "A CIA conspiracy was the only thing keeping a generation of x-ray seeing super card players from taking over the world."

This is far too compelling to just dismiss as pure fantasy. Either way I intend to find out.

It sounds as though he was being facetious. I don't believe Eliot is into drugs and he recommended against using them when playing.

<:joker: >But you are right about drugs giving you super powers, just like alcohol does for me. When I get drunk in a bar, every girl in the place wants to have sex with me. I just walk up to them and start kissing on them and they really appreciate it. And most of them are into anal, because they say something about "asshole" when I do this. You should try it. </:joker: >

I've counted on LSD but its not a good use of the trip. While your ESP may be hightened and you can see into molecular and wave-form levels its not X-ray. As for flying, I've only tried off a chair, not a upper-story balcony - several people over the years have been injured trying to fly/leviate on acid. zg

Actually what one sees whilst in a mystical psychedelic zone is sometimes more "real" than what one usually sees while straight. zg

I can not argue with you about that what you see under the influence is more real. The problem though is that unless the casino is on an identical trip as you are, what they see will result in your getting paid or not.
Now if you come up with the ability to make others see what you want them to see, then you really have the winning formula.

As a P.S., did you not know Eliot well and have a Zen Zone on his old site before he went to the darkside.

Yes, the ZZone originated at CC.com and was actually instigated AND NAMED by Eliot. Eliot NEVER went to the darkside. zg

Yes, I understood that. I didn't initiate the thread. LSD CAN increase the telepathic potential... but of course you already new that! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! zg

I think some more ivestigation needs to be done on whether or not drugs can help you see through the cards! :joker:

We might need to set up a team for this project! Anyone? :)

Several years ago when I was in my partying days, some guy brought some acid to the party and we all took some. We started playing some card games, and played a couple rounds of blackjack, but the funny thing is although I was completely out of my mind, I do remember not even caring what the dealer had and I hit my hard 18 to draw a 2 giving me a total of 20.

I am sure it was just a conincidence, and I didn't have any sort of magical x ray powers. I just know that going to a casino would be the LAST thing I would want to do on a trip, the noise and the lights would be very disorienting.
