Default Hole Card

In The Blackjack Zone by Eliot Jacobson, he talks about a friend he once knew who claimed that when he was high on LSD that he could read the value of the cards before they were delt because they were "invisible and he could see right through to the other side of the card." He then goes on to say that you should never take illegal drugs and that playing while intoxicated usually leads to basic strategy errors.

Has anyone tried this? Sounds too good to be true. But I have heard from other sources that you can experience super powers on LSD. Any truth to this?

I'd say in the very-best-case scenario, the friend was a counter, maintained the count extra-clearly while tripping, and got lucky in prediciting the hole card (if indeed his claim is true).

I would never want to test this because once you drop the acid, your desire to make a financial profit leaves. Then you understand that there are more important things to think about now.

This sounds like a zen zone topic as well. Zengrifter seems to be the psychedelic expert so he might have something to say about this.

Oh come on guys don't even think about it! Drugs don't make you able to do things, they just make you think you can do things. Look at all the people who died because they believed they could fly or something when on LSD. Same for being able to see through the cards.

Once, while tripping on mushrooms,I was challenged to thread a needle.
My first several attempts were well off,but when I concentrated hard enough, the opening of the needle was large enough that not only did I insert the thread thru it,I managed to get my entire wrist thru it.
Can't imagine sitting still long enough to play cards while tripping.

Just because you think you can see things when your tripping doesn't mean that those things are real. That's the whole point!

Maybe so, but in the book Eliot's friend said, and I quote, "A CIA conspiracy was the only thing keeping a generation of x-ray seeing super card players from taking over the world."

This is far too compelling to just dismiss as pure fantasy. Either way I intend to find out.

This is very close to what I have experienced on LSD.. But much more of a melting effect.
