Woman Issues Statement: Castration Suspect Maintains Innocence

The woman accused of castrating a man during a Christmas Eve party said in a statement through her lawyer Thursday she is not guilty and wants a chance to prove her innocence in court.

Lillington attorney Jason Wunsch said his client, Rebecca Arnold Dawson, 34, of Lillington, is innocent of the charges of attacking Kevin Russ, 38, and castrating him with her hands.

He also said she intends to plead not guilty to the other charges against her which are assault causing serious bodily injury, malicious conduct by a prisoner and injury to personal property.
