I read the article http://renzey.casinocitytimes.com/article/what-comes-after-basic-strategy-in-blackjack-21796 about staying on a 3 or more card 16 vs dealer 10 if you have a four of five in your hand. It sounds reasonable but does anyone know. What if you don't have a 4 or 5 but the other players do?
I think "the Book" (don't ask me who wrote it!!!!) says that if you hit hard 16's against a face rather than stand on it, you gain about 1%. That means that you'll loose about 1% less in the long run. That's not much. Very nearly that hand is a "coin toss." So any valid basis you can employ is going to be a very minor advantage to you. There are 20 cards (Ace-5) in a single deck that will not bust you but only eight (5-6) that are likely to Push or Win against the Face. If you remove any of these 20 cards from play, then that lowers the chance that you are going to hit with the card you need. Minor effect, but it is an effect that you might as well bet that 1% on. You are going to loose 75% or 80% of those hands no matter what you do.
