Barring a presidential stay of execution, the once famous Stardust Hotel & Casino, born on july 4, 1958 is scheduled for implosion on march 12, 2007. However, the Stardust sign, a Las Vegas icon, will be moved to the Neon museum. I've had dozens on inquiries regarding my personal thoughts to the above mentioned, so please allow me to briefly share some of them with you.

I wasn't part of the original team back in the 50's, but in 1971, I did become a Stardust peon, pulling an 8 hour standup shift for $75.00 per day. A few years later I became the Casino Manager, and eventually elevated to the very top. As the C.E.O of 4 casinos, and 3 hotels, with an approximate work force of 4000, we were flying high, and living the good life. Our chairman, Allen R. Glick, a 32 year old decorated Vietnam helicopter pilot provided me with "Cart Blanche." they were great years for both the "dust" and the shareholders.

I was fortunate, having persuaded the great team of Siegfried & Roy to come on board, with star billing, in the great production extravaganza "Lido de Paris." literally (s.r.o.) Each and every night, and the hottest ticket in town. The entire cast were simply marvelous performers, and just about everyone, including "Whales & High Rollers" from all corners of the globe, made the "Lido" a must see. A couple of years later we conceived and built the very first Race & Sports Book inside a major casino property, that became the proto type for all Nevada casinos.

Like they say, "all good things eventually come to an end." and so, after a shortened career, due to a variety of circumstance I moved on, with few regrets, and many memories. The good news, a $4 billion multi-faceted world class resort complex, to be named the "Echelon Place" will be constructed. This prime 63-acre facility should become the talk of the town; perhaps the entire gaming world.

So, in spite of the fact that I was not asked to become a Stardust pallbearer, I wish her good luck
