Who was that funny old guy

I am sitting at a shoe game with two other players and this old strange looking guy comes laughing and joking up to the table. He is wearing a strange money belt and reaches in and pulls out a bunch of crumpled up tens and twentys and sits down. About his third hand he gets a 20 and splits vs dealer 6 (count did not call for this), he resplits one of the hands and the dealer busts paying everyone. Immediately the other two players flee in haste while I sit there watching the dealer's shuffle and the old guy says, "why the hell are you still here?" Me, being a dummy, ask him, was I supposed to go somewhere? The guys states, "well I split the tens cause I like to be alone, I do it everytime I come here." I tell him, oh you split tens, I did not notice, did you win? The guy shakes his head and leaves.

OK, which one of you guys was it?

After you said your bit you should have asked him "why are you still here?".

Then when he was trying to figure out what you meant you could have said "you are so old I figured you should have died by now. Why are you still here?".

I would have replied "Because you're the first person who seems to understand the flow of the cards. I've been yelling at people all day long but they never listen!"

That would make him stay away from you all day.
