Default Question about "buying" player's 10's and 11's.

I need a little clarification on the issue of going in on people's double downs on 10's and 11's. maybe this is a question for Renzey...

i completely understand going in half's on these hands, especially when the dealer up card is 2-6. But would it still be a winning propostition if you looked to the person next to you with a 10 or 11 and they were learly of you doubling with them- would it still be worth it to offer to pay back their bet if the hand looses?

in other words: they have a 1 unit bet out, you throw out 1 unit to double, if you win you each get 1 unit, if you lose you give your partner 1 unit more.

to me this makes sense at first, but maybe the overall return doesn't work out in your favor because you always have the chance of losing 2 units, but the most you could win is 1. and i think the odds of winning on a double against a low card are only like 55-60%

can someone give me a quick answer on this. sorry if it is so moronic that i can't see the answer on my own

Default My thinking, not actually the math

You never have enough of an advantage (maybe extremely rare but I can not think of a case right now) where your option is if you win, you win even money but if you lose, you lose double your bet. That is what I think you are proposing. Or think of it this way, to break even you must win 2 of 3 of those hands.

The only case is 11 vs 6 which you win more than twice as often as you loose. In this case say the bet is $10, you can buy the hand off them for $20, because on average you will win about $21 making $1....
